if you post anything about films, tv programmes, pictures it will get moved to the arts section, jokes to Alfs place etc, im waiting to see if this thread gets moved to members suggestions . It begs the question why did you not put the first post in this thread under suggestions then? One of the main purposes of having specific sections is that members can find stuff again should they wish too later on....................... Far easier to do a search in a single topic area than have to possibly trawl through several hundred threads and thousands of posts to find something. IMO HYS will just become a dumping ground with masses of repetition across multiple threads. Also as has been pointed out already members have different interests which the forum needs to reflect....................... All a matter of what you prefer.................a single free for all section where anything goes or something more structured which can be managed. As time passes the forum will generate a huge amount of data. Giving the site a structure means should it crash and need to be restored it can be done in a logical way. That also gives a degree of assurance data will not be lost or that most if not all can be recovered to some degree. Having everything in a single section almost ensures the opposite will happen and the most likely scenario in the event of a crash is that everything will be lost. I know which I prefer. CWL

CWL Justification for the complication, still doesn't help us if we find it all still complicated. I don't think we need a basic lesson in division and subdivision. (as we said in school, we get it now...but when will we ever need to use this?) I understand the different sections and topic titles,(I don't need it explained) but then there are different sections within sections. You go into a new section and find yourself in endless tunnels of other sections within. Then you have to find your way back to the original heading. Why cant we have some basic main headings and then everything related can be discussed within one thread relating to that subject? Also surely discussion everywhere on any subject will naturally digress to other areas. Since when did discussions and debates have to stick strictly to the original topic? Its like the "thought police" or something..."Y ou are only permitted to speak about subjects that we find appropriate!!! If you veer off topic again you will be removed to another place." I don't want to be moved elsewhere, I want to say what I am saying exactly where I am.

I agree up to a point I totally agree that discussions etc do veer off in different directions and thats fair enough as it only reflects natural conversation but when people want to discuss perhaps something thats important or relevent to themselves it can be frustrating at times-and I remember very clearly on the old EC how some conversations descended into utter drivel courtesy of trolls etc,or indeed members complaining about things being completely off topic-which is the reason I started the chat thread on there years back. I just think we need to use our common sense-obviously if conversations drift naturally onto other topics there is no issue whatsoever as people will have been contributing throughout the course of the discussion anyway and one topic can give rise to others. My issue would be with deliberate attempts to either deflect the topic or steer it to another with an agenda as we have seen used before.

Hi shads i'm sorry but I am finding this all very complicated. I work with computers all day long at work and am comfortable with finding my way around sites, but all the sub sections on this forum are really off putting. I used to like the music thread but there are now 8 sections within that. I dont know where I should be posting, and it takes to long to look at them all. So I dont bother. So that has resulted in me not looking at something I might have been otherwise involved with. It means I keep safely to the "have your say" section. Even the Drop Inn has 5 sections. That looked interesting, but I dont go anywhere near that now, coz I dont know where I should be. Have you realised how many sub sections are within sections: Music 8 Drop Inn 5 Alfs place 2 How do I? 8 remembrance 16 Tributes 3 Photos & videos 10 Arts 17 Has anyone really got the time for this? That without even getting as far as on line games and natural world. Dont even mention the footall section. I find it very difficult to nip in and find out whats going on. Its all just too much. Even if I stick to have your say, I worry that I will be removed to another section. Then I would be lost. Sorry but what I used to find enjoyable to look in on at the weekend has become way too complicated for me.

I can see what you mean Bansh. Being honest when this forum was originally started myself and Ann created Categories based 0n what other forums were doing-and I dont think they are really a problem-theres just Welcome,General and the two footies There are alot of subsections tho-Ive been looking through and many are not being actively used anyway so Im going to remove them or move them around a bit-whichever is most appropriate I also intend to re-order the topics-music is always popular and I will be putting it higher up on the boards. Im hoping it will making it a bit less tedious trawling through

And to keep rattling on-bear in mind some of the subsections are threads created by our members-I wouldnt like to discourage anyone from starting up a new one

CWL the reason i put this here rather than in suggestions is because i wanted to know if other posters feel the same way as i did and if it was in the suggestions section those posters would not see it as they probably never visit that section.
