Hello Folks, I just joined the forum and thought I would pass on my memories. the saturday matinee cost 3d , there was the Durango Kid, Roy Rogers with Smiley Burnett and Trigger, we would take a beer bottle back to the local pub and get the 3d deposit from it, one of my memories is of my elder brother billy going to the Ice Cream man ( horse drawn ) and getting 2 cones, one for me and one for himself, this was a very rare treat and only happened when our uncle fred visited, I would watch Billy licking fast at one of the cones then drop it as he climbed back over the fence and say sorry I dropped yours then walk off to eat his own' Happy Days ? regards from Geordie

Welcome geordie Now theres a thing to bring up.Thinking on probably the biggest hero in our street was the rag and bone man. Hearing the clip clop of the horse coming up then running round like a mad thing looking for old clothes to swap for that bloody unfortunate goldfish in a bag-or even a balloon. And getting a bowl of water for the horse. Somehow the scrap truck driving round the estate doesnt have the same appeal

Fairs can you imagine that now Its like so much long gone. My dad used to pay a local stable to deliver an enormous pile of horse poo to our house and the afternoon would be spent shovelling it into a wheelbarrow and transporting it from the road in the front into the back garden. These day I think people would go into meltdown at the prospect
