This Sunday has The Mags travelling 'Doon Sooth' and into the West End of London heading along the Kings Road to play Chelski.
With the news that skipper Kevin Nolan will be out for this fixture (and our final home game against The Baggies). Plus the threat of a 3 match suspension hanging over Tiote should he be carded again. Our paper thin squad is at full stretch (nowt new there then) with not much in the way of midfield cover as Guthrie is already out for the season.
With several other injuries keeping people out Toon Boss Pardew has a real selection headache on his hands.
So will he bring back Smudger and Ryan Taylor or go with the kids?
As I expect us to be defending quite a bit during the ninety minutes the back four picks itself again with Simpson, Saylor, Colo and Jose all as last week. Krul will be behind them between the sticks. Also a five man midfield has to be the way to go. Possibly with Ryan Taylor or Shane Ferguson given the Tiote Role should Smith not make the side. Should Smudgie make it then for me Taylor returns to the bench with Fergie pushed up alongside Barton in a midfield position. I would also play Ryan Donaldson on the right along side Joey rather than fellow Ryan (Taylor). Jonas retains his place out wide on the left in his usual partnership with The Bull.
Up front it's a lone forward day for either Stroller or Ranger.
So it would look something like this.............
Krul
Simpson, Saylor, Colo, Enrique
Donaldson, Barton, Smith/Raylor, Ferguson, Jonas,
Stroller/Ranger
Subs: Harper, Ranger, Raylor, Airey, Kuki, Tavernier, Lovenkrands.
Could be a long and painful afternoon watching this one.................
