Why is it, that those who have most whinge about benefit claimants? I go on to another couple of forums (one has nearly 900,000 members *sigh* so it's a good cross section of the population) and the ones complaining about "their" taxes paying for benefits, are always the ones who have the most!!! I'd have thought they'd be just pleased they don't have to live on the breadline!!!
I don't have all that much, but I have enough for my "needs" and some for my "wants", but I don't complain about those who have less!! I really don't understand it. As the threads go on, it comes out that those whinging, have 2/3 cars, a couple of foreign holidays, usually a large house etc, etc. Why are they not satisfied about what they have, instead of always wanting more and more???
It's fair enough wanting things, but not when it comes at the expense of others, or accusing those on benefits of being scroungers and layabouts! A fine example of this, was when they were going to cut CB (child benefit) for those earning over 40k. The howls of outrage would have been heard on the moon!!!! I'm not saying the way they were going to do it was right, but IMO the principle was!!!
I would love to be paying a higher rate of tax, as it would mean I'd be earning a canny amount to begin with!!! Why do bankers need a million pound bonus, or Rooney 250,000k PER WEEK?? It's about time we got some priorities right, and people stopped being so bloody greedy!!!!

There's quite a few people like that Ann, they seem to think they are entitled to more,. I also have enough to pay the bills, get what I want, and have my holiday every year, I'm happy with that, and people like Rooney and such are like you say ...so greedy

Yes, it seems, often, the more people have, the more they want! I often think that folk who are more or less "working class" but have made their way in the world to become reasonably comfortable become staunch conservatives....."conserving and hanging on grimly to what they have". Perhaps they choose to forget how some have not been so lucky and, I firmly believe, sometimes, luck comes into it. Most of the time, though, success, or rather monetary success has been worked for and thats fine. To my way of thinking, and I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking this, is that there is not enough fairness in the distribution of the country's wealth....especially the grossly obscene amounts of money given to bankers, city traders etc, some sportsmen, pop stars etc..... There are a hell of a lot of people doing difficult, hard or boring jobs and they get by on the minimum wage, often working long hours.......the minimum wage is now £5.93 or something like that....think of the way prices are rising, then think of these people with houses all over the world, living a life of luxury.......it doesn't seem right! Thats my rant over......I know we live in a Capitalist Society but what does everybody think re Ann1's post above?

I think the problem is you have people who are genuine benefit claimants and would like nothing more to be in work but arent through circumstances beyond their control such as redundancy, illness etc and you have others for whom being on benefits has become a way of life and every ruse under the sun is used to avoid working. Ive been on benefits when between jobs and indeed whilst I was looking for my first job-it wasnt a great deal of money to live on and I was desperate to get a job and earn more. And when I moved back up here with Mr Shads we struggled on benefits until he found employment. But I know it really sickened us when people we knew were scamming the system left right and centre and taking the p**s basically.Foreign holidays each year, top label clothes,no money worries whilst we struggled, got our holidays by collecting vouchers out the papers to go to some holiday park and shopped most of the time in charity shops for our clothes and toys for the kids-all whilst Mr Shads was in full time employment. Ive no issues with people claiming benefit even tho we dont have alot ourselves and often struggle-trouble is its those who take the mick that seem to get maximum publicity and then everyone gets tarred with the same brush And I fully agree about the obscene wages-some people do dreadful or difficult but essential jobs for very little. When the nurses and doctors were busy saving my sons life I read about some footballer or other and his salary-know exactly whom I thought deserved it more

I agree with you about those who take the mick shads, but it's not really those I mean. We all know people like that, no, it's those that relish the benefit cuts, so they don't have to (or so they think!!) pay more tax, although they have sufficient to begin with. I'll end up tying myself in knots here, I much prefer talking to writing!!! We all moan about things going up, it just seems to me, that the more they have, the more they moan!!!! Surely it's those with nothing who should be complaining the most, but it doesn't seem to work like that!!!

So why can't those who have, do the same instead of whinging about "hard working taxpayers" all the time? I've never had well paying jobs, but I was never fussing all the time about what my tax was going on. People just seem preoccupied about what others have - or not - all the time these days. I'm going, I can feel a rant coming on ;D

I know there are some people who think I shouldn't receive incapacity benefit or DLA because for my financial position. They forget though being in that position apart from DLA any other benefits are taken into consideration when it comes to tax (don't get me started on the tax office what a bunch of morons) and when in comes to housing benefit or council tax rebate are also counted against them as is the money in the bank etc. As a consequence I get no benefits like that and pay a fair amount of tax. It amuses me that the people how should be complaining such as people on minimum wage or low paid who work longer and harder than anyone else in poorer condition . Yet such people seem to understand and accept other peoples positions. It the middle income self centred Daily Mail reader who seem to be object the most. people who the benefit was never designed for in the first place. I do how ever have a sneaking suspicion they actually need the money, not to make ends meet, but because they are living above there means to keep up with the Joneses. My f***ing heart bleeds.
