Have to admit-I rarely go in the Gateshead Tesco as I cant get parked I dont like these big supermarkets taking things over-I find my choice of products restricted and the bloody outrageous situation in Gateshead Centre which has gone on for years now after Tescos bought the land is a joke. But all of these big shops are the same really and the reality is when moneys getting tight people-and I include myself-go to where the food is cheapest. Because no matter how high your principles are the kids still need to be fed. Its interesting how many of the shops previously regarded as "cheap shops" are now becoming popular too with all sorts of people. I shop where the bargains are. Today it was Farm foods and Lidl-and TBH there wasnt a certain type in them-just people looking for a way to fill up the cupboards and freezer

yes it is easier for the richer amongst us to shop with a conscience. The rest of us just shop where is convenient and good value. We do our shopping at Asda (well Mr Bansh does our shopping at Asda) I did try to venture into the whole discussion about not being happy that Asda was part of wal-mart, but I was basically told, that as I don't do the cooking, and he does, that he will decide where 'we' shop. I had to agree, as his other suggestion was that perhaps i do my own shopping in future. I do remember making a choice not to buy Del-Monte, as an anti apartheid protest, and would like to think that despite Nelson Mandela spending half his life in prison for his political views, that my decision not to buy pineapple chunks perhaps helped him in some way. We can only do what we are realistically able to do. However if more people done their little bit it might make a big difference.
