This weekend The Toon visit Anfield for a Sunday high noon showdown with the red side of Scouseland................thanks to ESPN. Will the sale of Andy Carroll come back to haunt the Mags or will injury keep him out? Not that it matters according to AP as this TV fixture has been kind of ruined what with The Toon not being on the verge of going down as was anticipated. Should be interesting to see the reaction of The Kop to one or two of our other players who Liverpool have been linked with recently, namely Enrique and Barton. Have a feeling both may want to show what they can do although perhaps for different reasons. Should Andy C make this game I expect one or two of his former colleagues will also want to remind him of what he left behind. The sell out 3,000 Toon supporters at the game will not be slow or quiet in letting him know their feelings either. Although the point earned at Bloomfield Road last Saturday was well received, I reckon this game will be a whole lot different and certainly no walk in the Stanley Park. Hopefully the lads will get stuck in and make it tough for a side we will be competing with again next season. What do you think the score will be...............and can The Mags take something from this fixture? CWL

Pardew insists that the match was moved to this time because Sky wants to ridicule the team in front of everyone.... less complaining and more focus on the football Alan..

He may well have a point as I believe a kick off at noon on a Sunday is an insult to our away fans.................... That said I too would have preferred he said nothing and just focussed the players on getting something from the game. We all know modern professional footballers don't need much of an excuse not to show up on the day so why give them one. CWL

Aye, couldn't understand Pardew's reasoning on this, Natt....its unlike him to have digs like that. As regards the score, I'm going for 2-0 to Liverpool but hope I'm wrong. Like you say, CWL, Enrique & Barton will be out to impress and Nolan hopefully will "feel at home" and have a good match. If big Andy plays, what reaction will he get....I think "polite" applause" on his appearance, then boos after that whenever he's on the ball! Looking forward to it!

Aren't there lunchtime games most weekends? Aren't most Liverpool vs Toon and vice versa games televised? What's the problem? We'll get trounced no matter when we play them.

Fairsy, yes, but why 12 noon on a Sunday? Most games kick off at 1.30pm although Saturday games start at 12 .45pm. I could accept it had the two sides been involved in a local derby game so for policing reasons it was at that time. This just smacks of more manipulation of the game for TV purposes. Even Fergie has been on about it this week.................and reckons TV Broadcasters have too much influence. Mind you PL Football Clubs have taken the money fast enough so a case of sell your soul to The Devil and he calls the tune. Still believe there's an element of truth in the idea this fixture became even more attractive after Carroll was sold to the scousers! As it has been taken by ESPN rather than Sky I can only surmise coverage is for the American market as much as anywhere else.............although it probably means an early wake up call for many fans over there. Don't remember getting trounced off them when we played at SJP, they were rubbish! As for the away result well who knows.................as Leazes says this is NUFC so they could well confound the pundits with a fighting display rather than roll over and get clobbered. CWL
