i remember the royal visit at the Gateshead garden festival, i had complimentry tickets for it but thats another story, anyway all the paths and roads were constantly swept in the area and all the railway bridges were painted, the festival was 21 years ago and the bridges havent been painted since,
as for overseas aid im not against it just dont think we should be handing it out until we sort our own country out, plus clear the debts.

Spot on Skint....I remember the Garden festival well as i used to be an SO in the security section and yes it was kept nipping clean and i too have noticed the poor state of the bridges |

What drives me nuts is when you sit and watch the most ridiculous things being done around you. Early last year Gateshead council decided in its wisdom to dig up little bits of grass around the estate and plant this purple flowering plant that went berserk.And the weeds joined it in making the areas look like utter messes.Now theyve just uprooted the entire lot and sown grass seeds  Utter bloody lunacy. |

Sounds like one of those "good idea at the time" things shads  They'd be better off spending the money filling in the potholes - properly!!

Perhaps it would be more productive to use the people who come up with these good ideas as material for filling in the pot holes. We then remove two problems at one go................... CWL  |
