They reckon that its going to cost at least ten billion pounds to repair the potholes on our roads this year-couldnt believe my ears when I heard it-altho Ive noticed that there seem to be absolutely loads of them around after the last spell of bad weather. Whilst they are repairing them they want to be looking at those drain things that are in the road too-theres one just before the Byker bridge thats lethal and another on the slip road to the Tyne Bridge that nearly had me off the road the other night-dont know if theyve always been so sunken but they are a liability

Know what you mean, Shads....we're thinking of doing a map with all the major ones on it....should start erecting "Hazard Ahead" signs where they are! And, yes, those damn sunken drains are just as bad!

If they did them properly in the first place, they wouldn't have to keep doing them year on year!! I cannot remember them being so bad as the last few years, and I've been driving for donkeys!!!

A little late I know but one of our local newspapers had an April Fools' Joke as follows. In an effort to combat thre ever increasing pothole problem on our roads, motorists are encouraged to make a call at the road maintence depot where they could collect a bucket of ready mixed tarmac which could be used to fill any small potholes they may encounter on their journey.

I love it!!!! I wonder how many fell for it? Mind, the way things are going re cuts, it wouldn't surprise me if we do end up with a "pot hole DIY" kit!!!

With the amount of spouted by our politicians I'm suprised they don't have sufficient to fill the holes in themselves! CWL

They are like metal coat hangers, more and more keep showing up!!!! They've filled in a few round here with a splodge of tarmac, I wonder how long it'll take for the same ones to crack up or sink!!!
