From what I have read so far in todays reports covering NUFC's finances they can be viewed by supporters in the following ways............. The Club is still in Debt......................most of it (£139.8m) to Mike Ashley. Which means the Club carries a day to day loan facility of just over £10m compared to it's previous £25m arrangement with its main bank. Overall depending upon what you believe he bought the Club for in the first place Wor Mikey has invested in the region of £286m to keep his enterprise operating. In real terms NUFC's fall from grace from the PL into the Championship resulted in just over a further £2m increase in its losses from £15m to £17m. Quite remarkable when you consider the amount of lost revenue the Club suffered from during its demise. The Corporate side disappearing faster than a speeding bullet despite the bullish PR about finding new sponsors etc. While its perhaps not that surprising the faithful continued to turn up what is revealing it was done as much through the turnstyles and not with season ticket sales. Other revenue hits included reduction in TV and hospitality streams. Again no great shocks there. To off set that reduction in income many of the Clubs high rollers also left, although quite a number of others did remain for the promotion battle. Regardless of that players wages still make up the huge majority of expense incurred at NUFC with over 90% of all income taken up in that area. I would imagine many supporters would consider it pretty poor value even if we did achieve promotion at the first time of asking. From my perspective as a supporter Ashley is a necessary evil to keep the Club afloat. On that basis he can do whatever he likes as I'm unable to influence any of it. Although I don't subscribe to the belief of the Club going bust should he ever pull the plug on his investment. Someone from somewhere will buy this Club again. Quite what the Club is worth or how much it would take to acquire is just another thread waiting to happen. All in all hats off to the Fat Controller and his side kick Lamdumbass for attaining some financial stability at NUFC. That's about as much praise as they will get from me. However both of them should remember football is not played on a balance sheet! It is what goes on each Saturday on the pitch that interests me and it's there supporters have yet to see any true ambition in the last four years. Loads of promises, even more excuses, s**t PR, no communications or at best complete nonsense, revolving door in the managers office and a multitude of crazy decisions that beggar belief. Welcome to the soap that is NUFC. Now we look forward to see if the football gods smile on us and we can avoid the drop. To be followed by a summer of possible delight or unfulfilled expectation and more disappointment. Who knows? We may be considered delusional and have a sh**e team, but my god it's never boring! CWL

Thanks for that CWL. Saves me alot of work It would be fair to say, would it not that the £10m loan facility to which you refer is now interest free but I imagine Ashley is collecting his pound of flesh elsewhere.

Good review CWL.
If we would get relegated I doubt it would be as easy to get up again.... I really hope there won't be another relegation.

The £10m facility with the bank I believe is the only thing not interest free. The Bulk of Debt which I referred to is to Ashley and remains interest free. I'm inclined to think Wor Mikey must be making money somewhere it's just difficult to determine where based upon the figures which are available. TBH I can even allow him that if he is true to his word by delivering a side supporters can be proud of and competitive. It's that which remains firmly in doubt for me. CWL

CWL I did not really mean the Keegan debacle, it does have it`s place I know. I was thinking more about the Carroll farce. Can we say for instance that everything they come with is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? ;D ;D ATB

Details of the Carroll deal will come out in time..................probably when the Club has to reveal involvement and payments to agents plus how it affected the balance sheet. That said it will not be for a while and again not change a thing which has already happened. Have you listened to the BBC broadcast with Pardew. Some interesting stuff among all the mutual appreciation thing going on between those involved. One of the key points being the Carroll deal only came to be on the final day of the transfer window. Make of that what you will....................... For me he has been transfered for a hefty fee.................end of as he will not be coming back anytime soon and I simply move on. CWL.

Ashley is a better than FS. Financial stability and building for the future. He is surely laying the foundations for a good future for NUFC. We might thank him later....The figures don't lie...
