Always thought Mr O was firm friend of school pal Freddie? If he read that section I reckon his blood would be boiling! CWL

Whatever and whoever Observer was he obviously had a broad knowledge of most things concerning NUFC including a deal "inside information". Wish we could find him.
Note to Canny - weren't you in touch with Jim once or twice outside the forum? Do you remember his surname?
Interesting that the link to Toonarama doesn't work. I rememeber that particular site as a hive of information with history, match facts and reports going back years. Player stats and transfers etc. It was particularly good to have for reading match reports of games I had attended as a child. Really brought back memories.

The problem with all that inside information on NUFC was sources could never be revealed. So most just added to the plethora of misinformation in circulation or resulted in pointless argument about whose source was best or knew the most. If that didn't happen you ended up getting a history lesson with the same stuff repeated again and again. May have been interesting for some, but I'm more concerned about the Club as it is now not as it was run under previous regimes, for good or ill. My own sources for such details dried up once The Fat Controller severed ties with certain contacts inside and outside of the Club. Since then information about anything has been in short supply including through the official channels. Should be interesting to see what spin is put on the financial report involving NUFC which is due out Thursday I believe. CWL

Have a look at this following link www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united/8413324/Newcastle-set-to-announce-debts-reduction-says-manager-Alan-Pardew.html I have read this a few times and still unable to decide does it mean......... The Debt of NUFC is now near £17m so some how Ashley has managed to recover £83m of the £100m he was owed in four years. The Debt of NUFC is now £83m thanks to the financial pruning since relegation and our one year in the Championship. The details of the financial situation at The Toon following our 2009/10 campaign in The Championship now appear to be scheduled for release tomorrow (Wednesday) and not Thursday as I stated in my earlier post. Thoughts welcome.................. CWL

I've read this several times now and am unable to make head nor tail of it. Add to this statement the soundbites coming from Mr. Pardupe about resources available next season and you have to wonder what on earth is happening. I assumed the Carroll millions had gone towards reducing the debt but we are still talking about investment of the same capital. I look forward to The Toon Report.
