Is it my imagination or are things going slowly downhill. I dont buy it anymore but my parents do and I do read it whilst waiting to pick up the kids. The letters page is so uninteresting its untrue-and they had that phase of printing all those poems and only putting about two or three letters in anyway. Then theres the readers photos-how many Angel photos can there be. We now have nil forum and a comments section restrictive and fairly uninteresting unless you toe the party line. News reports that are vague and lacking in detail such as the testicle biting woman and sloppiness "My ankle it actually still black and I think it always will be." A few years ago, when we first got our computer, I read the EC, because I was a Geordie - and loved to read about what was happening in the NE. Today - what I read is garbage, and bad reporting - sue everyone!

A few years ago June would religiously read the EC website every night, but the last two years or so she didn't bother unless there was something specific she wanting to read about. She said it's rubbish now, looks like she was right.

I used to read it quite regularly too but these days I only pop in hoping to find old members of the forums commenting.
Now in the past certain stories would be reported on in a more responsible manner and I feel that theyve lost some of this and are becoming a little less careful.
Something that I did notice was the fact that on the 18th they carried an article about a house fire which is about two minutes from where I live now.
For the first time I made a comment because I noticed no reference had been made at all about smoke detectors-couple of years back that omission wouldnt have been made. And it is a particular issue close to my heart.
On checking tonight I see the article has been amended-which I am very very pleased to see as it happens-to include reference to them-but it should have been there in the first place.
This is the type of thing Im on about.
I'd like to see the Chron not go down the way of so many papers-just printing sensational stories and what really gets me is that the blame doesnt necessarily rest with the reporters but with the editors who have the final say on what is published.
