i used to like getting my fruit and veg from a shop in Dunston but it's shut down along with a load of other shops because they are knocking down the maisonettes and the rocket tower, there is another one in Dunston ive never tried it before but i think ill give it a try, superstores fruit and veg are a bit overpriced and not always that good.

Skint-try the one on Low Fell-next to the paper shop Belle Vue end-thats where I go.Yesterday got two punnets of strawberries for a pound-fruit and veg is way cheaper than the supermarket-and they sell wild mushrooms and home-made jams and chutneys-these cost a bit more but I'd recommend the chilli jam Ive really noticed the price increases. We get the vast majority of our meat now from the butchers on Team Valley. In Sainsburys I tend to just get the reduced meat and freeze it-got a Gammon joint priced at nine quid-couldnt believe the price-for four quid and a beef joint priced at eleven quid for about the same but its pot luck whats there Vast majority of basics comes from Netto and freezer stuff from Farmfoods or Heron.

Aye, food is definitely on the way up....my barometer is things under £2....its virtually impossible now to get anything decent for under that price. I usually buy a pack of cooked chicken thighs every week and for ages they were £2 but now £2.50....thats a big rise! Mind you this is at Tescos....no doubt shopping around we could possibly get better deals. Shadow, I would watch that mushroom addiction!

Jazz-Ive a passion for mushrooms I saw Sainsburys increase their own make of catfood from £2.03 to £2.99 over the last few months-an increase of nearly 50%.And bread rolls-previously 35p each or 3 for a pound now 70p a pack-a 100 percent increase.Greggs sausage rolls-used to be four for a pound-now 4 for £2.25. Some things are increasing in price by a considerable amount

Did our usual forage in Tescos today, and it's now noticeable how things are going up!!! And with fuel seeming to be going up on a daily, it's only going to get worse!!!

Asda have reduced the price of their walkers crisps, 3 bags of 6 for £3.50 but i got 3 bags of 6 from a shop at Chester Le Street for £2.25 and a walkers meaty 12 pack £1.50, if a little shop can do it why cant the big supermarkets.

Whats getting me is that prices seem to be going up on an almost daily basis now.Im really having to shop around to be able to afford the food we need-and in the big supermarkets Im just getting the reduced stuff or special offers. Mind with petrol prices dont know how long I'll be able to afford to do that
