What is the reason that Barton gets offered a two year contract when Tiote gets a 6 year deal? Could it be that Tiote is wanted by someone willing to pay a kings ransom for his services? Is this heading in the same direction as the Carroll debacle?   ATB |

I'm not sure if it will go the same way as Carroll's transfer, but you have to admit Tiote is a more marketable asset than Barton. Our benevolent owner  and his right hand man Decka are only looking IMO at things from a money making perspective and not from what is served up on the pitch. CWL  |

CWL But Barton has played really well, you could say he has had a major impact in the way the team has played. To be then offered a two year deal when asking for three, (bear in mind he is also taking a pay cut)seems ludicrous under the circumstances! ATB |

Don't think it matters how well he has played some Clubs and managers wouldn't take the risk of signing him given his history. Then there's the small matter of what Ashley is likely to ask in the way of a fee. The Fat Controller gives nowt away for nothing even if at times it looks that way from a footballing pov. As for Barton taking a pay cut and the rest well who do you actually believe in all of that.....................still comes down to the same thing, Money! I'm still more concerned about Jose's contract negotiations possibly going nowhere, than Bartons. As supporters there's bugger all we can do about it anyway so just have to wait until it's resolved, one way or another. CWL |
