I wonder if anyone enjoys watching dance these days.I dont mean strictly come dancing but real innovative dancers. In the late eighties I discovered a dancer called Michael Clark. He is a Scottish dancer who trained at the Royal Ballet School in London. And hes been described as the Ballet Punk and the "enfant terrible" of ballet. I used to have a recording of a performance called "Because We Must" which I loved and Ive tried to find clips to post but none available but he revolutionised how I viewed Ballet. I saw Swan Lake at the Theatre Royal as a kid and at the time I thought I was gonna die of boredom A clip of him and I know it wont be to everyones taste www.youtube.com/watch?v=maqTPJkA-SoAnd very different now-I love this too www.youtube.com/watch?v=K01Ogf2XE7E

Shadow, like you, I was taken as a kid to the Theatre Royal to see Swan Lake. I can't really remember much about the dancing but I really liked the music (Milkhope would be proud of me!). The Pantomime season was more in line with me at that time, maybe still is!? ;D

I'm just waiting for Swan Lake to come back to Theatre Royal, then I'll go and see it. I've never been to Theatre Royal TBH theatre is not really "my thing", but I do like ballet - well, some of them

CWL-I really enjoyed those clips and I found the second one really beautiful Jazz-that left me speechless-I am honestly lost for words. Which might be just as well Will try to find one that shows the martial aspects of a chinese fan dance..................If you have never seen it done it's truly amazing. CWL

Again struggling to find a decent video of this................. Music is as you may expect Chinese however it's the form itself which is fascinating to watch. The first one is I believe a dance based upon the martial art. The second is the martial art incorporating the use of two fans. Bit different as I say and not strictly dance, but hope you may enjoy it.......... CWL

I would consider both of those as dance-perhaps different to Western concepts of dance but never-the -less movement to express something set to some form of sound.
I often find it amazing that no matter where you go in the World different cultures devised their own dance forms and its wonderful to see how diverse they can be.

This is the Drum Scarf Dance sequence from House of Flying Daggers with original music which was used with the track I put on the music thread. I like both pieces of music so no conflict for me...................... Without spoiling anything, hopefully you will have guessed the girl is blind...................... CWL
