I don't know why they just don't be honest!!! I'd have far more respect for someone who said "right, we're in the clarts, there are going to be a massive loss of jobs, front line services will be decimated, and everyone is going to be paying a hell of a lot more for everything." What they do now is treat us like idiots, and try and weasel themselves out, if any news presenters ask them anything! They go round the houses and never answer a question straight, it drives me nuts!! Its a tactic that Labour are trying out now tho, Ann. Milliband keeps saying- "we got thngs Wrong, we aplogise. We would do it differently next time." They should have been honest at the time. Bit late now, isn't it? I was watching a programme a couple of weeks back about private schools, and there were a number of boys talking about "going into politics" as a career choice. That kind of says it all really. Surely we should have people who go into politics to support the people and bring about change for the better, and not choose it as a good job option? The need to make a difference to society should be the first reason for choosing that particular job, and the good career you get out of it should be the bonus- not the other way around. Its like if you're a patient in hospital- do you want the Dr who is there to big up his career, or the one who is there coz he want to help people? Miliband reminds me of the old adage about the Doctor doing his rounds in hospital and saying to the guy in the bed. "I've got good news and bad news - sorry we've amputated the wrong leg, but the good news is the other legs getting better"

I think Obama is in the same position as New Labour when they were elected on the public's anti -Conservative wave of "things can ony get better" , unfortunately a big ideal to live up to. When we have a government we feel hatred for , we look for the Messiah. Unfortunately we believe anyone who we think is going to save us. what we end up with is someone who is merely a watered down version of what we have.

I was reading something a few weeks back about this.To do with bankers bonuses and the fact that altho promises had been made to do something about huge bonuses the government was actually powerless to do much at all.
Ive read similar things regarding the American Banks.
Presidents may come and go but the real power isnt held by them.

The thing is, has/is any Government been popular....its more or less a contradiction in terms to say that a government is popular. I suppose a "caring" Government is the one we all want but caring for who....that is the question?! You pays you're money and takes you're choice.......money being the operative word! ;D

Problem is you have privately educated middle class kids leaving uni hoping for a career in politics. How in Gods name are they supposed to know what its like growing up on some sink estate let alone how to fix the problem?I think the public have given up-we protest at nothing because at the end of the day one suit sounds much like another and the whole lot have their snouts in the trough. Whole lot should be gotton rid of and we should start again. Im sick to death of smarmy politicians with their coached hand gestures making empty promises-not one of them sounds genuine to me-its all jargon, slogans and flannel.

You'll never have a revolution in this country The gov are too crafty, they give just enough people, just enough to keep them happy - and use the Daily Mail to convince them that the rest of us are lazy, shiftless wasters Nothing like a good dose of "divide and conquer"!! Trouble is people fall for the spin
