As you know this week I've been down to Bolton. The place (town centre) is a real dump, They've even got bouncers on the door of the Job Centre! No I'm not joking.
What's the world coming to?

According to my friend Danny, there have been junkies and dealers hanging round, and threats made on a regular basis towards the staff.

im not suprised there has been threats made against the staff their stupidity infuriates people, when my son was on jobseekers they would not let him sign on one day they said it was because he did not attend an appointment with them, even though they knew they did not in any way inform him about this appontment they still expected him to attend, he had to fill in a form saying why he did not attend the appointment and the lad in the job centre looked at the form and said, i dont think they will accept not attnding an appointment because you were not told about it as a valid excuse.

Lol-reminds me of the time a certain company disconnected my internet for not paying the bill .Bill was issued on 14th-I was disconnected that day-bill arrived five days later-and the woman assured me that the bill had been sent from their end hence disconnection was ok.Now I have to admit I ended up shouting and bawling down the phone. My sister works in benefits and I do know they get alot of grief if giros etc are late. But having claimed myself on occasions over the years the attitude of some staff really leaves much to be desired too. Some staff have spoken to me as if I was the dregs-even tho they had no idea as to the circumstances of my unemployment. I've seen people, years back now, literally jump over the counter to attack staff but I do understand how bloody frustrating it is to be desperate -and some-one speaking to you as if you are the stupidest, lowest creature on the planet does not help at all. There are some rude obnoxious claimants but not all are like this.Equally not all benefit staff are bad-but the bad ones are awful

it's the stupid things they do that infuriate me and when you point out their mistakes they wont admit they are wrong, ive been thrown out of the DSS offices before and the Civic Centre .

Same here. When I was living in London I was on the dole for a bit after leaving college, and my housing benefit giros werent arriving. After four weeks I was close on getting chucked out of my rented flat as the landlord needed paying.Whenever I phoned the Lewisham DHSS OFFICE they insisted they'd sent them out. I told them I hadnt received them and it was eventually insinuated that I was trying to commit a fraud as the giros had apparently been cashed.I was told it was being investigated but in the meantime was advised to go to another DHSS OFFICE in Greenwich to apply for a crisis loan. After waiting for hours ,the woman, who couldnt have been nastier if she tried basically told me I was entitled to nothing-I could have punched her there and then to be honest Had to beg my landlord to be patient.Eventually I had to walk from New Cross-where I was living-to Catford-where Lewisham office was and start kicking off. They called security-but just before I was removed a bloke checked up and turned out the giros had been sent to the wrong address. They had been cashed in Deptford and the signature of the person cashing them bore absolutely no resemblence to mine. Their mistake right down the line-but me treated like the lowest, accused of fraud and nearly homeless at 22.Did I get an apology? No chance

im a very calm person and it takes a lot to get me angry but the DSS or SS or what ever it's now called i think it may be DWP and the Gateshead Civic Centre all get 10 out of 10 for making me lose my cool, i thought by now they would have learnt their lesson and put my name on a board with dont upset next to it .

The ironic thing is there will be many of the staff on the other side of the counter soon, lots of staff are on short term contracts.
