It's a reasonable assumption, yet regretably I suspect legal advisors and other interested parties are playing a major part in this when it comes to the money aspect. Such is life that those with the least to lose often gain the most from others misfortune. CWL I agree with you on that CW all these legal advisors would have been there before the poor chap was out of hospital.

Yes, the good old ambulance chasers. It puts me in mind of a joke in the film Philadelphia - What do you call a boat at the bottom of the sea with ten drowned lawyers in it..............a good start. I'm just waiting for him to by signed up be Max Clifford.

Sorry for bumping this thread especially after i said i was leaving it alone. Ive been doing a little bit of digging on this and it turns out that David Rathband was not allocated legal advisors he hired and instructed his own solicitors to take this course of action. While in hospital he hired a PR man....While he was in hospital.. Personally this does not surprise me and for the majority of people it probably means nothing but to me it smacks of cynicism Northumbria Police are using David Rathband to show the public how loyal and caring they .They have absolutely no intention of keeping him on. You wait and see as soon as the story goes stale he will be pushed out the door and David Rathband knows this and is going to make as much out of it as he can .
