Has anyone else been a victim of a crash for cash fraud?
We have twice been victim to it now. Though one was probabaly accident , they soon tried to get everything they could from it.
case 1- Mr Bansh was in the camper van, not moving. A car came along that must have been trying to avoid parked cars on other side of road, came over too far and clipped the back of the camper. He ended up with a cracked plastic bumper, and we had a small scratch. After inspecting each others damage, both decided that it was just a scratch and could be easily put right. The other driver drove away fine. Then the next day, Mr Bansh gets a letter from a solicitor saying that the other driver had thousands of £'s worth of damage, whip lash , and had to hire a car as his was a write off. Luckily the camper is insured with a classic car insurance company and they know that people with classic cars look after them and drive with care. They are not prepared to accept the other persons claim and it is now going to court. Without going into detail- its a clear case of fraud. But Mr Bansh had had to take time off to see the barrister and to go to court. The damages being claimed are unbelievable. eg £300 a week for a hire car!
case 2
Mr B coming home from work with a passenger in car as witness. other driver in wrong lane on roundabout and gone into side of Mr B's car. Again- just a bump that he can put right himself. Both cars inspected and both drove away fine. next day- solicitor letter claiming whip lash and hundreds of £'s damage. insurance for that vehicle is ordinary insurance company, not classic car, and say the fight will take too much, so are settling on like for like damage.
Mr B is now going to fit a camera to the vehicles as you never know when someone will try to get money with these no win no fee companies. Its just pure greed. Both on the part of the person and the companies.
I watched a programme this week on TV and can see exactly how the first fraud was done. Its crime and these solicitors are helping people to get away with it.
