I'm bringing a party of Norskies over to Dublin for a weekend in April. I've never been there myself and was wondering what we can do whilst we are there. Have already booked a guided tour of the Guiness brewery and reckon a few hours will be spent in Temple area tasting a few bevvies but there has to be other POI? All male btw so shopping is not an option ;D

Trinity College is worth a visit to have a look at the Book of Kells. Banshee's yer man for Dublin Fairs, she'll point you in the right direction - apart from the Guinness Brewery that is!!

I would suggest keeping away from the temple area which would be the equivalent of bringing people to the Bigg market, to experience 'real geordies!' ;D You dont want to go anywhere that will serve you a pint with a shamrock on the top. I would suggest getting out into the outskirts and meeting genuine Dubliners. My family are all from Coolock and Artane. Get yourself to town centre pubs in those areas, and chat to real people. Thats the real Dublin experience. When I came up here from London, I found the best way of meeting real people was in local pubs in Gateshead, Walker, Byker, even Blyth, and not the centre of newcastle. Hope you have great time.

I've only passed though Dublin on the way to more rural parts when going fishing. They are really nice people, although it's a still a little like "Ryan's Daughter" in the villages

At least they'll be used to expensive places!!! Dublin - and Dun Laoghaire used to be very cheap places to go, I used to go regularly to get the duty free on the cross channel ferries and buy stuff there. In fact I got my engagement ring there, as jewellry then (late 60's) was a hell of a lot cheaper than the UK. It's all changed now though, and it's more expensive there than here now!!!!

Tomorrow's the big day. Will be flying over Blighty on our way to the Emerald Isle at about 10.00 am. Will drop food parcels for those that need them and certain chemicals on others. Seriously tho' looking forward to a weekend with the lads in Dublin's fair city, looking for Molly Malone.

If you go over the river at Tynemouth Fairs, give us a wave And if you go over Anglesey, give our kid a wave! I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself, it's a lovely city and nice people. Take some pics and you can post them up - bearing in mind, there might be people with a "delicate" constitution reading the forum
