Yes, we should have the 2022 World Cup in January. And if the Premier League and La Liga say they aren't releasing their stars, then FIFA should say 'fine', we'll have a World Cup with players who think patriotism is more important than earning 100,000 a week.
If FIFA had the balls to say that, I would love them for ever, and it would be the best World Cup ever, because you'd know that the players played in leagues where they didn't earn disgustingly high wages.
I'd have no problem at all with the World Cup going from being the best players in the WOrld, to being the best reasonably-earning players in the WOrld. I think the magic would return to the World Cup, and I would love it. We need to release ourselves from money, and that means sacrificing something.

I think it's ridiculous to have the competition in such a hot country!!! Even in the Winter it will be unbearable for most Western people!!! For the players who'll be running around to the spectators who'll be standing in the hot sun!!

Ann, you say that even in winter it will be unbearable. So what is the average temperature in Qatar?
According to this website, the average winter daytime high in Qatar, is 71 / 72. Do you think that's unbearable. It's no hotter than Germany 2006, or Eastern USA in 1994.

So how will it work then? Half out Prem teams, won't have teams as most of the players will be on World Cup duty!!!!!!! Will they extend our season or abandon it altogether for that year? It's disrupting everything!!! Why not just have it in countries that have bearable temps in the summer??

I don't know what WILL happen, but I DO know what CAN happen.
The Premier League CAN stop whining and do exactly what the Brazilian league has to do every 4 years; move its season around a bit, for the good of the World Cup.
In Brazil it is much more inconvenient to sacrifice June and July (the only time of the year, when their temperatures are down to about 25 centegrade), than it is in England to sacrifice January. But you don't hear Brazilians whining.
It's the World Cup of a WORLD game, and we should do everything we can to ensure that every region in the world can host it.
