The Toon are away to Morecambe in the Capital One Cup this evening and likely to face what will be another test of nerve for both team and supporters. There were two results last night which could be considered as shocks in the form of newly promoted Crystal Palace going out at Bristol City and QPR losing at home to Swindon (Nile Ranger scoring the opener). However, neither will generate the media frenzy NUFC will receive should The Mags lose against the Shrimpers. This game is a must win for Newcastle and particularly manager Alpha Papa after his statement about taking cup competitions seriously this season. The Toon Army shall see just how ambitious the Club are when looking at who is penciled in to play this evening. Will it be a side made up of First choice players as I would want or will it include younger fringe players or those hanging on by a thread to their Toon careers. Without involving wish fulfillment or self proclaiming prophecy should it end up with Gosling, Obertan and the like playing then quite frankly Newcastle will probably deserve stick afterwards should it end in defeat. That said if a strong team is sent out to earn the win and yet loses, the alarm bells will well and truly be going off. Time will tell... what do you think? Lights Oot!

Today's Ronnie stating that Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has been handed the Captain's armband for tonight, WL!
Which probably means we won't be seeing Colo or Stroller out then!!!
With no news yet on the fitness of Willo, Cheik or our "bewildered lightbulb" then I fear it will be down to the likes of Haris Vuckic, Dan Gosling, Gael Bigirimana, Paul Dummett &Sammy Ameobi to kick off our League Cup campaign.........FFS!!!
Lose this and I think that will be AP oot the door!!

I'm so happy that "Bewildered Lightbulb" has stuck around so long.
Not necessarily the player...but definitely the moniker...

Well, it only took 84 minutes against a League 2 side for the Flying Ameobi Brothers to strike en route to a 2-0 win.
YOU CAN BARELY CONTAIN THE FIREPOWER WE POSSESS!!
Round 3: Home to Leeds. It's Cloughtastic!

I can only say The Dog was a welcome diversion and the result a relief. If this is showing ambition to win the thing then God help us in later rounds... Lights Oot!
