On any other Saturday of the season, a point away at West Ham would probably be regarded as a decent result. The Hammers have been strong at home this season and well, we’ve been largely stinking away from SJP (not that we’ve been particularly great in NE1 4ST either mind) but with Villa and Wigan coming back to life with away wins at Norwich and West Brom, that result in East London has INADEQUATE stamped all over it. We are still in the shit. Sometime this week, we could be in the bottom three. That’s not negativity. Its arithmetic!
The rage that is boiling under the surface amongst Black & Whiters regarding Pardew, Llambias, Ashley and everything else however needs to be sent on vacation because next Sunday’s trip to Loftus Road to take on already relegated Queens Park Rangers is probably one of the biggest games in the history of Newcastle United FC. We can split hairs about other fixtures but let no-one be in any doubt about what this game means to the short, medium and long-term future of our club. It is absolutely critical we go to London and win.
I’m not arsed if we go and play expansive, free-flowing football (highly unlikely in any event) or if one flies in off Shola’s arse in the 92nd minute. We just have to win. Have to. I don’t want to hear stories about cliques, fall-outs or any bull-shit this week. I also don’t want to hear about last minute injuries. No-one wants to hear about hard-luck stories, bull-shit about “doing it for the fans” or any of that crap. This week what we all need is 100% focus from every single last bastard on the Newcastle United payroll. I don’t give what nationality they are, what their Geordie credentials look like or what they plan to do with their future careers. The situation is simply desperate and the players in particular need to understand that.
I think it would be preferable if the club just went into lock-down. No press conferences, no soppy quotes for the press to make bull-shit stories up about and I think it would help if every single one of us started to understand just how important Saturday is to United and put away agendas pro or anti the manager, managing director or owner. This is the week when all of that is simply irrelevant. This is all about the future of Newcastle United FC. If we fail to beat QPR, f**k knows what happens but Arsenal at home looms large and that is one challenge we don’t want to have to face without having put Redknapp’s runts to sleep.
The autopsy of this season has to wait but when the referee’s whistle blows at the end of the Arsenal game on 19/May/13 then deep and searching questions of everyone at St James’ Park need to be asked regardless if we are in the Money League or slumming it in the Championship for the second time in the six years of Mike Ashley’s ownership of Newcastle United!
But at QPR I want to see our players run more, run faster, press harder, pass more accurately and actually look like they want to win a game of football rather than piss about looking like tomorrow will do. We want intensity. We don’t want shite about being tired, not having enough nous or f**k all else. The manager and the players know what we expect from them and frankly if they don’t deliver, I’m not sure they should bother coming back to Newcastle.
Now or never!
