The FA Carlsberg Vase Final, 3pm, Saturday 4th May 2013
Wembley Stadium
Spennymoor Town v Tunbridge Wells
Spennymoor Town lifted The FA Carlsberg Vase thanks to a 2 - 1 win over Tunbridge Wells at Wembley.
Goals from Gavin Cogdon and Keith Graydon ensured their side would become the fifth Northern League winners in succession.
After Cogdon headed the Moors into a first half lead, the result never looked in doubt.
That was until Josh Stanford levelled matters with 12 minutes left.
However, Graydon - impressive all afternoon - smashed home three minutes later to take The Vase back to the North-East.
Nearly 17,000 fans from Durham and Kent descended on Wembley Stadium to ensure the 2013 Final boasted it's highest attendance for 15 years.
But it was the Northern supporters who went home the happiest.
Yet it was Tunbridge Wells who had the first real chance, Josh Stanford collected the ball inside the Spennymoor half and burst forward as the defence simply opened up for him. He reach the area before firing goalwards, but Robert Dean beat the ball away. And that was their only sight during the first half as Jason Ainsley's side offered the more attacking threat. So it was no major surprise when they took the lead on 18 minutes. A delightful cross from man-of-the-match Keith Graydon found Cogdon 15 yards from goal and the forward applied the perfect header, looping beyond the dive of Chris Oladogba. While the Wells stopper could do little about the goal, he made an important contribution keeping the score down. He snuffed out another chance for Cogdon as he raced clear into the box and pushed a goal-bound effort from Mark Davison around the post for a corner. Tunbridge defender Lewis Mingle was counting his lucky stars on the half hour when he connected with Wayne Phillips' deep cross at the far post and rattle the frame of his own goal. After the break, Tunbridge offered more in attack and almost capitalised on a dropped catch by Dean, but the stopper smothered before a Wells man could react. Dean did better moments later when Perry Spackman kept the ball in on the bye-line and hooked goalwards. It looked like it could have been sneaking under the bar, so Dean made sure, turning it over the bar. From the resulting corner, Spackman - Wells' Semi-Final hero - connected with a powerful header, but it was wide. The lively goalscorer Cogdon continued to trouble the Wells back-line as he looked to seal the win and two more chances came his way. First, a neat swivel and shot inside the box was good, but Oladogba saved well, then he latched onto a loose ball six yards out, but was denied by MIngle's block. Davison also had another chance, heading wide from Graydon's cross, then the midfielder had a go himself - a free-kcik inside the area follwoing a back pass - but it was always going high and wide.
