Just for the sake of argument Capt. I would suggest that no-one , us included has a rightful place in this league. All league places have to be earned through the point system. If a team doesn't have enough points then rights don't come into it. Then we can ask is it the manager's fault or the players' fault. Some might even suggest Ashley is to blame I can understand your comments if we were neutral football supporters but we aee nor perhaps I am too biased. ;D ATB

All, for those of you unable to attend games at Gallowgate for whatever reason here is another of my match accounts for this season, including personal thoughts as a Newcastle supporter as the day’s events unfolded both outside and inside St James Park. Considering the media attention given to this fixture against Liverpool, following the Suarez biting incident involving Chelski defender Branislav Ivanovic, the build up on the day for me was pretty much low key. In a football context it also started off very positively with two hard earned wins for the kids team I'm involved with. So having had a very pleasant, albeit cold, morning watching grass roots stuff I made my way later in the afternoon into The Toon for a spot of the top level variety. Which would give me the greater amount of pleasure after full time still very much up in the air. If there's one thing following The Toon for many years has drilled into my head it's never to underestimate certain opponents. No matter what has or is being tried at The Toon there are specific Clubs that make Newcastle look like part timers, Manure, Arsenal and Liverpool all coming immediately to mind. That said while watching Wigan attempt to give three points to Spurs and then fight back to possibly bugger up The Spuds Champions League aspirations I couldn't quite believe what I was hearing from fellow Mags. With scores of 3 - 1 or more going around the table I was, unsurprisingly perhaps, shouted down for saying we would lose. Thing is I wasn't saying it just to be negative, it was a genuine fear. Ironically the same thing happens should you attempt to defend the Manager, which I find kind of perverse. For me following The Toon has always been about collective success (little of it to be honest as all long suffering fans know only too well) and collective failure (as evidenced by the current corner and set piece scoring stats). However under the regime of our most benevolent owner there appears in some quarters of our support to be a very vocal and growing blame culture. The baying hordes of disappointed faithful requiring a sacrifice for said failure, despite it being there for the majority of the time I have followed Newcastle. Surely some individual must be to blame, as accepting the whole shambles from top to bottom is at fault is a step too far. If I can see it why not others? Yet again the irony of the situation is not lost to me and perhaps I've followed the buggers for too long or prolonged training with The Dog has removed some rational part of my brain regarding The Toon, however whether I like any of those involved or not they have my unconditional support until either they or I leave. So for good or ill that includes the current crop, however come the day I do walk away as I have said on many other occasions, I will definitely not be going back. That said, once gone you can put money on it this great old Club will probably win something. At that point in my beer fueled musing Spurs scored and a massive roar went up in the pub. You just have to love those football Gods. Not sure whether it was the late afternoon kick off time or the fact Newcastle are in desperate need of three points, but there was a definite nervous tension in the air similar to that before the Derby game as I walked up to SJP. Once inside I checked the TV screens for the team news, while replying to an earlier text from Leazes. Informing him Tiote and Perch both making it into the side........Umm! was part of his reply! I shared the feeling. The game kicked off with Newcastle attacking the Leazes End. Barely three minutes later they are one nil down. Daniel Agger making the most of some poor defending to head past a static Elliot following nothing more than a knock back into our box. To be honest it didn't come as a surprise as Liverpool from the off were quicker to the ball and more enterprising than the home side. To say there was an audible groan from the terraces is an understatement. Quarter of an hour later it got worse as Liverpool carved open The Toon's central pairing releasing Sturridge and Henderson to do a quick interchange of passes before the latter tapped in for his first of the game. That earlier groan got a whole lot louder this time around. Liverpool were cruising as if it was a training session, which only made me think that's what I should have carried on doing in the pub! However such is my love of the game, in some perverse way I could only sit back and admire what I was witnessing from The Red Scousers. Gerrard was leading his troops in sublime fashion in midfield, allowing Philippe Coutinho all the time and room he needed to go and do his stuff. Not that I think any of our midfield had a clue how to actually stop him. If you thought the performance was bad during the Derby this one beggared belief. The sum total of chances created by Newcastle in that first half a single Perch effort. That opportunity to reduce the deficit had it just hit him probably would have been been closer to scoring than his actual header past the post. The half time whistle from Andre Marriner almost a blessing when it came, with loads of emphasis on almost! The start of the second half brought a couple of changes with the departure of Perch and Jonas for the oncoming Hatem Ben Arfa and Yoan Gouffran. For a brief while the substitutes injected a bit of much needed attacking drive into the sides play. However even that was eventually cut short as Ben Arfa ran up a blind alley which Obertan would have been proud of before being dispossessed. Coutinho doing the final damage with a little chipped through ball for Sturridge to finish. At the time I did think the Liverpool forward was offside, but a later replay viewing showed he was onside. Six minutes later on the hour mark he got his second of the game after again some dreadful defending by the home side. If this is what parking the bus is all about someone better tell the players it's meant to stop the opposition from scoring not present them with guilt edge chances to create records FFS! This was also the final straw for a large contingent of home fans who made their displeasure known by walking out, I could hardly disagree and wondered why I stayed seated. Fifteen minutes later Liverpool comprehensively showed their superiority with goal number five. The back four run ragged before sub Borini who had only been on the field two minutes toe poked his goal into the net, beating both Mbiwa and Saylor in the process of scoring. That just started another exodus from the terraces, however two minutes later it became a flood. Starting with a needless challenge from Debuchy on the edge of the area, his second yellow leading to a Red. That dismissal compounded by Henderson drilling a free kick across the area that eluded everyone then ending up in the back of the net for his second of the game and number six. Leaving half of the original 52,351 left to see out the game to full time. Liverpool still having an opportunity to make it seventh heaven as a shot cannoned off the upright with Elliot again beaten. The damage limitation stuff during the last five or six minutes quite unbelievable considering what had gone before, yet somehow summed up just how inept it had been from the first minute until the final whistle. I can accept defeat, but this was wholesale capitulation of the first order. Pardew rightly comes in for a lot of stick and I accept that, however I do at times feel for the guy. Especially when I see the likes of Saylor storming around the pitch clapping his hands like a demented seal, but offering little else. Cisse jumping up and down on the half way line in a good impression of a four year old throwing a wobbly when not getting the ball yet is unable to look along the line to stay on side. Tiote prepared to try and kick lumps out of the opposition, but unable to pass the ball to his own players. I could go on, but what's the point! You either put up with it as a supporter or stop supporting them, no grey area here, just Black & White! Positives.... A bottle of Dog has never tasted better after a game! Negatives.... The pub ran out of Dog! Next up The Hammers away 4th May 3pm kick off....although on this occasion I shall be watching what is going on at Wembley in the FA Vase rather than being glued to the scoreline from Upton Park. Lights Oot!

I cannot see Pardew coming up with a master plan which will pull us out of the nosedive we are in we can only hope Wigan run out of steam as they have many games to play within a short time frame. Canny relying on other sides to do us a favour is possibly a painful admission our side is just not good enough. I say side because IMO they are looking far from being called a team. The new lads yesterday got a real taste of what the Premier League can be like come the end of a season. Unforgiving at best, cruel by nature and when you think you may deserve a break simply not a cat in hells chance. Plenty of twists and turns left in this campaign before the end of May. Lights Oot!
