Canny had 5under1and shown some fight already in games I may well have agreed, however if anything they look even more resigned than anyone else do to going down. I will hold off on judging whether any injection of spirit due to New Manager syndrome has come into play until after they have faced Chelski next weekend. Also interested to know when was the last time you were at a live Derby game at SJP? The reason I ask is that come the 14th you may well experience a huge difference from anything you have recently had watching the game on TV. To say it's intense from start to finish is an understatement of epic proportions. Such is the intensity of feeling towards the opposition team and away support for me it will take more than a Di Canio pep talk to pump them up or stop them from being nervous. They may well bark as you say, however I also wonder who exactly is going to lead them in this battle of wills as without Clattermole they look mighty short on bite. I also believe there's plenty at stake to lose for both sides which will add even more tension during the game. It's not going to be a one for the football purest, but everything else about it will be pure drama. Bring it on...... WL Match is on ESPN 7:30AM over here, means we will probably decent announcers, Ian Darke and Steve MacManamen. What's all this business about new mackem gaffer being a facist? I did read where that mackem claiming to being doing the chicken dance got booked fer being a racist..................SMB!

My six pennyw'th. I, as stated on a previous thread when a certain ex member was "gloating" at Sunderland's demise, I do not want to see our neighbours relegated. The Derby games are much too important in more ways than one. My main hope is that we finish above them. I do however enjoy it immensely when they shoot themselves in the foot, as they seem to have done now. Call that gloating if you like and I won't disagree but I am damn sure any mackem would do the same were the boot on the other foot. DiCanio will be interesting - casts a brand new light on the upcoming Derby match. May all of your Easter bunnies lay Easter eggs!! +1

Sly News reporting that PDC very upset at the "accusations" of him being racist and that he's "not really the political sort" BUT some fans allegedly not going to attend until PDC has gone, because of his political ideals!!! On a personal note, I agree with Fairsy's sentiments on a previous post! Unfortunately, won't be able te join the lads of the forum for the derby match, but as always, I will be there in spirit! Believe it's on Abu Dhabi Sports/ESPN over here so will be tuned in intently. WL & Canny said it all........Bring it on!!! It's going to be a belter of an atmosphere

I have a horrible feeling that this appointment will kickstart them.......and more particularly against us..........It is a no lose situation , and a master stroke of adrenalin injection, for the players, staff and the fans. Instead of coming to STJP with their tail between their legs, they will be barking and pumped up. If he fails to save them, then it was impossible anyway.......if he saves them .....a master stroke. Its............................................................................Keeganesque!!!! Canny, I strolled over to Fairsy's second favorite site, "A love Supreme", (they did make his SUV after all" and nicked a Mackem reaction: Dear ALS I write with a heavy heart today. For the first time in nearly 40 years, I find myself questioning whether I can continue to support our great club in the way I have done over the years. I am sickened by our appointment of Paolo Di Canio, a self-proclaimed fascist, Mussolini sympathiser, and someone who is on record as having made remarks that could be interpreted as anti-semitic. This decision has, rightly, attracted terrible publicity for our club from all quarters and put us in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. It flies in the face of everything good we have tried to do as a club i.e. supporting Nelson Mandela Foundation, partnership with Invest in Africa, and so on. This appointment has also made the position of David Miliband untenable and he has quite understandably resigned. Shame on Ellis Short for putting him in this position. I now want, for starters, Ellis Short out of our club. It is now patently obvious that he has no significant understanding of the culture of football in this country and I think his ethics are questionable to say the least. I no longer think he is a fit and proper person to own and run our club. Obviously, I also want the appointment of Paolo Di Canio rescinded immediately. With respect to the ALS magazine and merchandise, you are in a difficult position. I certainly would be extremely disappointed if merchandise celebrating Di Canio's position at Sunderland were to be sold. I also hope that ALS will be able to take a position against this appointment and against those who openly hold fascist views, who are Mussolini sympathisers. Kind regards A Mackem This smacks to move of desperation Canny not Keeganesque! But Lights Oot is right, interesting times on Wearyside...........

@ Canny: Not quite WW3, however you may think so at times. @ Fairsy: Helmets will only be required should the result go against The Toon. Third game for the C man in attendance and have yet to see The Mags win. Should this one go the same way the bugger is a jinx! @ Polly: In all the years of following The Toon this is your first Derby game? Makes me even more pleased I was able to obtain a ticket for you... although may have to have a word with Fairsy and C Man to rejig the seating arrangements to cater for the dicky heart. WL
