With respect I find Pardew quite hollow, shallow and full of self love whereas O`Neil is quite the opposite. A Cloughie player who took to Management like a duck to water.. Every time a Toon Manager was sacked O`Niel was the fans choice.. Not just here but most clubs fans who found themselves without a Manager, the one guy who stood out was Martin O`Niel. Then sadly disaster struck, his wife fell ill with cancer that seemed to change him, lets face it we know what effect that has on people.
I was going to get really stuck in here, the fact I find Pardew out of his depth, a big talker,(gas bag) and nothing else.. Is my opinion lets not forget this is supposed to be a forum and not a one man band..
I was born and bred in the west end of Newcastle my team is of course NUFC. I love it when we beat our closest neighbours but I do not want to see them get relegated..
I may be a dyed in the wool Toonie but the area I was born in stretches from the Tees in the South to the Tweed in the North everything in-between I hold in deep affection including I may add Bedlington, never been, but there you go..
You look at the North West they have Man U, Man City and Liverpool. There is no comparison between the areas, Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesboro are nowhere near as affluent. That is not to say they have the best fans but what they do have is cash and with that the best opportunity to win things.
Looking at the bigger picture....

Says it all... EXCLUSIVE: Alan Pardew's Manchester City Tactic Book Revealed! By Jim McMeachin on Mar 31 2013, 6:02a @chnosotp 3 Stay connected for news and updates Now what did my Big Book say? - Alex Livesey Following today's 4-0 debacle at the Etihad Stadium, we set our crack investigative staff on exactly why we refuse to actually play against Manchester City. In today's climate of the Premier League, if you are not one of them you can reasonably expect to struggle against the "Sky 6" - Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham. Newcastle United are no different by and large, although our attitudes in matches v. Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are vastly different from the tactical ineptitude that is on consistent display v. Manchester City under Alan Pardew. Scorelines of 4-0, 3-1, 3-1, 2-0 and 3-1 in favour of the Citizens during the Alan Pardew era are largely built on Pardew's steadfast refusal to stand toe to toe with Manchester City and play against them. I've done a bit of searching to try to figure out exactly why this may be as it vexes me completely. I did discover what I believe to be Alan Pardew's Magic Book of Magical Manchester City Tactics that describe why we play as we do v. Manchester City. Let's dive right in: assets.sbnation.com/assets/2401143/Pardew_s_Big_Book_of_Manchester_CIty_Tactics_3.pngassets.sbnation.com/assets/2401015/Pardew_s_Big_Book_of_Manchester_City_Tactics_4_medium.pngassets.sbnation.com/assets/2401031/Pardew_s_Big_Book_of_Tactics_6_medium.pngassets.sbnation.com/assets/2401031/Pardew_s_Big_Book_of_Tactics_6.png

My six pennyw'th. I, as stated on a previous thread when a certain ex member was "gloating" at Sunderland's demise, I do not want to see our neighbours relegated. The Derby games are much too important in more ways than one. My main hope is that we finish above them. I do however enjoy it immensely when they shoot themselves in the foot, as they seem to have done now. Call that gloating if you like and I won't disagree but I am damn sure any mackem would do the same were the boot on the other foot. DiCanio will be interesting - casts a brand new light on the upcoming Derby match. May all of your Easter bunnies lay Easter eggs!!

I can only surmise I hang out with a different set of Toon supporters than other forum members. As in all the years I have followed The Mags O'Neil has never cropped up as most wanted on the list to be manager following a departure. Perhaps I'm also missing something when it comes to not taking the p when our most fiercest rivals cock things up or as Fairsy puts it, shoot themselves in the foot. I agree no right minded Mag wants to see the unwashed relegated as it means loss of the Derby game. However sympathy for the SMB's will be in short (sic) supply from a large proportion of Mags should it happen just as it was from their supporters when NUFC went down. For many having them below us in any capacity is as crucial as winning a trophy. Don't quite see it that way myself, but it's a strong feeling and there none the less. One thing for sure it's not going to dull across on wearyside with Di Canio in charge. WL

airways are popping even on this side of the pond. CNN reporting Miliband walking after DiCanio announced. This team looking for stability? Funny way of going about it. Kinda like shootin both feet eh?

I have a horrible feeling that this appointment will kickstart them.......and more particularly against us..........It is a no lose situation , and a master stroke of adrenalin injection, for the players, staff and the fans. Instead of coming to STJP with their tail between their legs, they will be barking and pumped up. If he fails to save them, then it was impossible anyway.......if he saves them .....a master stroke.
Its............................................................................Keeganesque!!!!

Canny had 5under1and shown some fight already in games I may well have agreed, however if anything they look even more resigned than anyone else do to going down. I will hold off on judging whether any injection of spirit due to New Manager syndrome has come into play until after they have faced Chelski next weekend. Also interested to know when was the last time you were at a live Derby game at SJP? The reason I ask is that come the 14th you may well experience a huge difference from anything you have recently had watching the game on TV. To say it's intense from start to finish is an understatement of epic proportions. Such is the intensity of feeling towards the opposition team and away support for me it will take more than a Di Canio pep talk to pump them up or stop them from being nervous. They may well bark as you say, however I also wonder who exactly is going to lead them in this battle of wills as without Clattermole they look mighty short on bite. I also believe there's plenty at stake to lose for both sides which will add even more tension during the game. It's not going to be a one for the football purest, but everything else about it will be pure drama. Bring it on...... WL
