No not a summer deal for Stroller but younger sibling Sammy could be heading to The Smoggies on a loan deal according to SLY Sports... Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has confirmed that Sammy Ameobi is close to agreeing a loan move to local rivals Middlesbrough. Boro's floundering promotion push has seen them win just once since the turn of the year - and now Tony Mowbray is looking for loan reinforcements. Ameobi has emerged as a target for Boro and Pardew looks ready to sanction the deal. "We are going to talk to Middlesbrough," said Pardew. "I would like to help them out if they want him and hopefully we can conclude that." He is way down the pecking order at The Toon so probably a good move for Club and player alike. WL

Perhaps it's one of those Oba situations with Stroller......he looks about forty but is only nineteen according to his birth certificate and passport. Bet they still roll him out for the Derby.... WL

Looks like it's done deal....the following taken from official NUFC site... England under-21 starlet Sammy Ameobi has joined North-East neighbours Middlesbrough on loan until the end of the season. The 20-year-old wideman has linked up with the Championship promotion-chasers up to and including their final league game of the season, away to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, 4th May, and there is an option to extend the loan should Boro make the play-offs. He was at the Teessiders' Rockliffe Hall training ground in Darlington on Monday morning to complete the deal, which Newcastle hope will give him regular first-team football. Ameobi has made 14 appearances in all competitions so far this season, eight of them from the bench, but has been edged out of the first-team squad in recent weeks. He has already played in the FA Cup for the Magpies this term, meaning he is cup-tied for Wednesday's cup clash with Chelsea, but could make his Boro bow at home to league leaders Cardiff on Saturday. I think this is a very good deal for Sammy. Boro has lost form and they will probably try to get him into the team as fast as possible. He will need starts if he is to learn the game and playing in Championship is a good level for that. Not sure if Carroll would have had that half-year he had for us if it wasn't for all the games he played in Championship. Bigirimana looks way ahead of the others too. A full season in that division would be a lot better than just matches here and there in the PL.
The club hasn't done their players any favors when they have loaned them out to Conference League or League 2 either. Tavernier for example was loaned out to Gateshead and then Carlisle after that. Did anyone expect him to be prepared for playing in the Premier League after having only played in such a low level? Bradden Inman was going to be sent to Gateshead but he was wise enough to say no. Crewe Alexandra is at least a little bit better.
