After last weeks 0 - 0 draw at home against Metalist Kharkiv in the Europa League the Mags have traveled for the return leg in the Ukraine. I was intrigued to see the following squad selected for this game: Krul, Elliot, Yanga-Mbiwa, Simpson, Coloccini, S Taylor, Perch, Tiote, Cisse, Marveaux, Haidara, Obertan, Gosling, Sissoko, Bigirimana, Anita, Cabaye, Jonas, Ameobi. Interesting to see Danny Gosling is included, but there was no place for either Santon or Hatem Ben Arfa. Gosling has been missing with an ankle injury since last autumn and I reckon is just going to make up the numbers. It's probably a wise precaution regarding HBA, but I find the situation with Sylvain Marveaux more confusing. Just what does this player have to do to get in front of Obertan in the selection process? The fact he cannot means for me his days at Newcastle must be numbered in that case and a transfer away back to France very much on the cards come the summer. Gabi may run and run like Forest Gump, but his end product is worse than Jonas and that is really saying it all! His fellow countryman also appears to be struggling to come to terms with the Premier League so ideally sell Marveuax or Obertan or both and put a bid in for Scott Sinclair from Citeh who is just wasting away at that Club. Anyway that aside it looks as if APee and his players mean business tomorrow evening and are not just going along for the ride. Would be big lift for everyone should they return following a victory. Hmm!! Could it be that these two have been told this is their last chance to prove themselves, WL? If one, or both, are to be sold in the Summer could be make or break time!
Personally, the bewildered light bulb has never done it for me, whereas Marvelous has shown some potential. I for one would like to see him starting more games.......

Leazes I think Gabi is a one trick pony and has played enough games to stake a claim for a start yet failed. Marveaux deserves a similar opportunity with a run of games, however I believe although possibly the better player he lacks something with fitness or perhaps his past injuries have finally taken their toll. That said I don't think either of them will feature much once Hatem Ben Arfa comes back into the frame. Mind you like many others before them perhaps training each week to warm the bench while picking up thousands isn't such a bad life when all is said and done. WL

WL I think that Purple Nose rubbed his hands together when he sold him to us , and laughed all the way to the bank.........dont we ever learn? Obertan is fn useless......if Marveux was given as much time and chances as him, I think we'd see Marveux start to excel,,,,,......Obertan..no chance. We gonna wait for him to come good like Slowla?......get rid ffs! Plus he keeps appearing in my scary nightmares.........he's slimmed down a lot since Dan Dare!

WL Could be right there mate although I hadn't taken Marvelous' past injuries into consideration Can think of "one or two" who have warmed the bench recently fer a coupla grand a week..... Or more, Monsieur Owen!!!!! (Just to get Canny gannin' agen ;D)

Half time 0-0 Newcastle hopeless!
Can't seem to be interested in this team just full of foreign players.
I was brought up on British lads.

Must have watched a different game as I thought The Toon were well in charge.... Even more so after Stroller scored. Yes Krul made some great stops in last ten minutes but by then they needed two goals and just never looked like getting one never mind two. As usual..... It's all Pardew's fault! WL
