Newcastle United offer is rejected by Bordeaux for their player Yohan Gouffran. Ashley has offered 750,000 euros when Bordeaux want 1 million euros! I find this absolutely ridiculous, when the club desperately needs a striker to offer 250,000 euros less!! No wonder we get Gazumped!! The tight fisted barsterward: ATB

Much more to the point....Is he worth the 750k? Top scorer in Bordeaux with eight league goals and four Europa League goals. Normally he'd be worth more I think only that his contract is running out in the summer. Not going to sign a new one I suppose the club hopes to get as much money as possible for him.

Never thought I'd say it but I'd rather have seen Obertan in the starting 11 against Reading than Slowly

Well Ashley is doing now what should have been done in the summer I hope its not too late for the team to gel together. Ashley is now going to expect results from his investment the pressure is going to be somewhat intense on Pardew to deliver... ATB

Many suggest that Ashley decided to take the negotiations into his own hands after Llambias having failed to land in Remy. Plus that we are running out of time in this window.
This might actually be true and instead of letting the man from the casino drag on every negotiation like it feels like have been going on before.
At least players are being brought in now. Mbiwa who is said to be quality. Haidara is one for the future. Gouffran probably won't be a wow signing but he'll be better than the hopeless Jonas. Sissoko might come in too and replace a Tioté whose form is ice-cold but his head is hotter than ever.
Doesn't get any worse that we are supposed to be in talks over Ricky van Wolfswinkel (can't go wrong with that name now can you?) and someone suggested Wilfried Bony... those two names would make an interesting combination...
Whoever will come in though, Pardew will indeed be under pressure as it will be up to him to get the best out of our new assets. Which means that I hope Jonas, Ameobi, Perch, Obertan, Simpson and Williamson will go down in the pecking order.
