Cant find any logical reasons for any subs made when both Shola and Jonarse stay on ....other than to keep Perch and Obertan happy.......strategy?..what strategy? ? NO EXCUSES Tell me I'm wrong ...40,000 people that were there felt the same? Are Perch and Pardew lovers? ffs

What happened? We were winning! been decorating. Check out subs and their timing...... Why on earth would you take those three players off and leave Ameobi on?? I could not for the life of me understand the logic of giving Ameobi the contact he was given that for me was a stupid unbelievable decision, was he ever going to help take us to the next level? ATB

It is so embarrassing, Readings first win, it is maddening, it should never have been allowed to happen.

I didnt write this....but word for word guys.... I have tried to give the manager the benefit of the doubt most of the season as have a lot of the fans. Despite the poor performances and results the support for the manager has remained fairly high as people have been able to see that we have had injuries to key players etc. Unfortunately though today's defeat at home to Reading has changed all of that and for me I think he has to go - 8 year contract or not. Today started so well, we looked sharp first half and to be able to field 3 footballers in midfield comfortable on the ball in Cabaye, Anita and Marveaux made such a difference. Cisse could and probably should have had a hatrick but a mix of good goalkeeping and poor finishing denied him but we still went into the break in control thanks to a beautiful Cabaye free kick just after the half hour which was the least we deserved. As has happened so many times this season though we just didn't really get started second half. It was so obvious that the second goal in this game would be absolutely crucial yet Pardew inexplicably took off the impressive Marveaux for Perch with over 30 minutes still to play. It was a clear indication that he wanted to try and hang on for the 1-0 win. Has he never watched this team play before? We can't hang onto and see it games, we don't have the defensive ability or intelligence to do it. That substitution changed the whole complex of the game into Reading's favour - it gave them the signal that we were going to sit back and they went for it and within 5 minutes Le Fondre had bundled them level after Santon was caught out of position. As soon as that goal went in you just knew that was it. The manager then took Cabaye off for Bigi which granted was more acceptable with him coming back from injury and there are rumours he is injured again but the damage had been done with the first sub. To then cap it off, once they had gone 2-1 up as Le Fondre struck home his second he takes Anita off for Obertan. It was too little too late and quite how Ameobi or Jonas avoided being hauled off ahead of Anita is beyond me. The manager just seems to have run out of ideas. We don't have a plan B and some might argue we don't actually have a plan A. This defeat really puts us in the mire and unless we go to Villa Park next week and record our first away win of the season then I genuinely think we will be relegated irrespective of what transfer activity happens before the end of the month unless we are planning on buying Lionel Messi and even if we did Pardew would probably play him in goal! If things on the pitch were not bad enough the manager even had the cheek in his post match interviews to try and make out that the fans were booing the players. They clearly booed your substitutions Alan and you know that was the case. The fans were behind the players for the full 90 minutes. Today the fans and the players were let down by the manager simple as that. Says it all.

Sums it up - Arrogant to believe they were booing the team and not him.

Canny not sure where you got that piece from but sounds mighty close to a lot of the conversations around me last night.... APee has lost the dressing room, lost the plot and now needs to go before the place erupts. Doesn't matter what players are brought in as he is not scouting them...............they are brought in under recommendation from Carr based on cost and resale value. The thing many feared is now happening in front of our eye's, the inevitable slide toward the drop. What I don't understand is why if it's so bloody obvious the hierarchy still don't see it.....unless of course that's the whole idea! Some how that being the case is even more worrying than it happening by circumstance.... WL
