My colours lie in fairness Capn............I feel that AP has had his hands tied since day one....he has to do as he is told....or lose his job. You can only build a house with the bricks that you are given in his case. Today was the first time for me that I saw him actually make a mistake of his own volition.......he understimated Brighton, the importance of the FA Cup, the supporters feelings and their economic welfare......In laymans terms........ he blew it with no consideration of anything or anybody else. My colour right now is red with anger. It's may just be my American naïveté, but I'm not sure it's far fetched to believe that Pardew estimated Brighton perfectly and was trying to protect his already Faberge squad. I've made no bones about the fact that this fixture was a likely loss and I felt that way no matter the line-up he put out there...maybe Pardew saw - with the general disarray and depleted nature of the squad - a loss in this fixture regardless. No matter how important the FA Cup is, Newcastle certainly weren't bringing it home this year...and a loss with the "full" first team squad would have been devastating ahead of 3 "winnable" (if you can call anything Toon faces these days as "winnable") matches. I'm not suggesting we should take solace from the fact that a manager has no faith in his squad to defeat a mid-table Championship side, but I know I'd feel a helluva lot worse today had we dropped that match with our full squad than I would have felt good if we had won it. There are many culprits in present run of form and Pardew deserves his fair share of blame...but, at some point, with the amount of money involved, avoiding R is more important than winning the FA Cup - this year, at least. Then again, maybe I need to change my user handle to "SuperWenger"... Aside from that, I'm willing to concede that I wasn't weened on the import of the FA Cup...as an American, I have nothing to compare it to - winning the league Championship is any of our sports teams' ultimate goal...that said, I do "care" about the FA Cup and if given the choice of finishing 3rd and qualifying for Champions League or finishing 13th and winning the FA Cup, I'd choose the Cup any time...but if I have to choose between winning the Cup and getting relegated or losing in the 3rd Round and staying up, I'll stay up...sadly, this isn't a sport where the barters are defined so cleanly...we may get the worst of all worlds, but I'm more optimistic at getting half of what I want...this morning, anyway...

But let me also add, what is not mentioned in my dissertation:
Regardless of the players available or what one expected to get out of the game, the tactics and formations employed by Pardew were reprehensible; you'll get no argument there from me.

I look forward to your few and far between war and peace novels that really do express an understanding of NUFC's ways and problems......I agree with most of it(them), but still think that in this particular game Pardew sold us out without one sensible forethought on his mind, or care for the supporters.

I nicked this from FB comment from a supporter that traveled to Brighton. Pretty good observation from one who witnessed that debacle
How do I go about claiming my refund for my travel and ticket back from yesterday? I am entitled to the aforementioned refund due to misselling under the trades descriptions act. It was advertised as a football match however what I witnessed was a team in purple rolling over and allowing themselves to be humiliated, not playing anything that resembled football and being no match whatsover for their supposedly inferior opposition . Furthermore I have never felt so degraded in my life due to the fact I felt I was being bent over by the current ownership and management, with my pants pulled firmly down to my ankles while they physically violated me as well as the mental torture they were putting me through. The managers poor excuses after the game bear no weight whatsover. He should have manned up in the summer and insisted that the owner strengthened the squad. Every fan was saying we needed more players in the summer in order to strengthen especially with a long campaign including Europe ahead. Every fan felt let down again whilst all the other mid table clubs spent and moved on while we stagnated. anyway for what its worth rant over.....i feel slightly better but will feel much better when my refund comes through.....or mila kunis sleeps with me...whichever happens first

Good post Supermac Ass licker! Bedlington......I guess its to be expected. Smite to you Terriorist! Why? 'Cos I happen to think Supermac has hit the nail on the heed? ;D ;D ;D Try reading some of AP's post match comments on NUFC.com etc, sounds to me like thinly veiled excuses for not having "our best 11 out on the pitch) Smited ya back..........
