Wow.....wtf was that? It was like the bad old days, when my team used to embarrass me every other week. No defence, no midfield, no forwards and no idea. Why tf would you bring on that headless chicken Obertan, in preference to Sammy Amoebi or even a cardboard box? We are starting to breed a culture in the team of non-tacklers and non-chasers.........creativity is all well and good when you have the ball, but the same players seem content to watch the opposition get creative and not tackle them(I exclude Cabaye in this)..................... This was one where Pardieu got it wrong, and his changes didnt work......dont care about injuries....FFS that was dire! Also to watch that fat useless gum chewing Sham Allardyce beat us with the same game plan he has used at every bloody club he has worked at , and still not be able to counter it........defies belief......................First one down to Pardieu........no excuses.

All, for those of you unable to attend games at Gallowgate for whatever reason here is another of my match accounts for this season, including personal thoughts as a Newcastle supporter as the day’s events unfolded both outside and inside St James Park. To say I had a an up and down weekend before I even got into Newcastle for this game would be an understatement. At one point I was so concerned about other stuff I almost didn't go to the game. Afterwards that feeling came back to annoy me even more as I did go to SJP for The Hammers game. Ironically my main motivation for doing so was to meet up with some past workmates who follow The Toon and as it happens West Ham. Also among our merry band was a young lady attending her first ever game at Gallowgate. The banter was lively on both sides during pre match training and while watching Citeh take on Spurs. What with Big Sam, Nolan and AC all making a return visit it could hardly have been anything else. With one notable agreement among those around the table being whether you hate him or loath him you cannot argue that somehow with his brand of football Big Sam does get effective results. Not that any one of us that have watched the game for many years take much enjoyment from seeing it played his way, but positive results do counter many arguments. Mind you that didn't stop some surprising predictions doing the rounds with most expecting a goal fest of one kind or another, including 2 - 2, 4 - 2, 3 - 1 scorelines among those offered up. At half time in the Citeh game and tiring of David Pleat rabbiting on about nowt I finished my drink then headed off to the ground. From the numbers of supporters also going in the same direction it looks as though Mikey's ticketing policy is working a treat. That said NUFC is primarily a money making exercise for him and as with Big Sam gaining his results no matter how, not actually about offering up entertainment. Once inside I checked the TV monitors for the team. With Colo and Tiote suspended, Perch joining the queue outside the Team Doctors, APee had little choice other than to pair up Saylor and Willo for this game in the back four, with Simpson and Santon as the fullbacks. The shock, if that is what it could be called given the quality or lack of it in the squad, was finding Jonas playing the holding role and young Fergie playing wide left. I say that simply because I couldn't imagine or see any sense in Cabaye playing deep as he is the only orthodox creative midfielder we have and it's just not Hatem Ben Arfa's game. Up front Ba and Cisse would be again trying to get their partnership to look like it is worth persevering with. Just before kick off a minutes silence to remember those lost in armed conflict was adhered to without fault by everyone in the ground. The first half kicked off with Newcastle attacking The Leazes End. Now the majority of times I have watched a Sam Allardyce side visit Tyneside they have got straight at the home team from the first whistle. Lofting the ball in from either wing and putting the back four under pressure. The opening fifteen minutes of this game was nothing like that as his current crop of players clearly either can't or simply don't play that way. From what I was seeing they like to keep the ball and pass it around, although never causing our back four too much of a problem. By contrast The Toon once again appeared to have forgotten what it is to pass to a team mate. Far too often giving the ball away with a poor or ill judged pass. Unfortunately that aspect was to be a prominent part of the game throughout the afternoon. Whatever is the reason for that aspect of Newcastle's current form either the manager or one of his coaching staff had better find an answer and quickly. Meantime Kevin Nolan was doing what he did so well while skipper for The Mags. Organising his troops and pulling the strings in an advanced midfield position while Benayoun, Diame and Noble did the spade work. Nolan certainly looks lighter and fitter than he ever did while at Newcastle, but more of him shortly. For me it was Mohamed Diame who really stood out. The 25 year old ex Wigan midfielder is a real powerhouse. Shame is although APee did enquire about him during the Summer the lad decided to go South to play rather than North. With barely a quarter of the game gone The Toon suffered another injury set back as Jonas limped off following a fifty fifty challenge from of all people Benayoun. Anita coming on to replace him, not that the passing improved any. With over half an hour gone it felt to me that everything about this game was just too nice. With balls being put out of play while players received attention, then returned to the opposition before it all started again. Sitting there it just made me wonder all the more when were The Toon actually going to waken up? As luck would have it they were caught fast asleep on thirty seven minutes when Nolan scored. Kevin with his timely knack of being johnny on the spot scored past Krul following an O'Brien shot which probably was going wide. Mind you I did think there was a case for off side as two West Ham men were left to drift inside the box, however it clearly was tight and the goal allowed to stand. Much to his credit there was no chicken dance in celebration. Mind you I have to be careful what I write here or it could set me off about the headless variety playing in the Newcastle side. The half time whistle came as more of a relief than a disappointment. The break was all about Robbie Elliott reaching the end of his 3,500 mile charity cycle challenge and fund raising for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. Although with Shola also warming up on the pitch indicating an early change by APee was on the cards. Sure enough as Newcastle came out early there was no Cisse and on came Shola. It's not unreasonable to think that things would improve as the first half had been dire at times. Unfortunately it doesn't always work out that way, yet had a Ba header crossed the line rather than being clawed away by Jaaskelainen it may well have done. However such is the nature of these Sunday afternoon games following our Euro adventures it never looked like happening. The Toon just huffed and puffed without creating much of anything and even when they did Jaaskelainen and his defenders did their jobs to perfection. Not that the game as a spectacle was helped any by constant stoppages, blatant time wasting and a referee in Mike Dean who appeared quite happy to put up with Big Sams tactics to kill the game stone dead. That said it doesn't excuse Newcastle from putting in a woeful performance which lacked spirit, drive, invention and above all else, simple belief! Bringing on Obertan as a final throw of the dice almost made me walk then and there. Had I done so I would have missed Tim Krul's terrific one handed save to prevent AC from scoring a second for the visitors. As it was the final whistle just left me wondering, given my earlier mood, whether I should have bothered attending in the first place. Whatever is going on with the team is being transferred to the crowd and the atmosphere inside the ground is shifting towards discontent. Perhaps a touch of the Monty Pythons and 'Now for something completely different' is required as Newcastle need a good performance and soon to prevent it from becoming full scale doom and gloom. Despite it being Remembrance Day one to forget I think Positives: Santon and Ferguson had good games. Crowd of 51,855 albeit a subdued one. Back to a Saturday 3pm kick off for the next fixture. Negatives: What do we do with Cisse? The side needs a leader and doesn't appear to have one at the moment. Struggling to see how this run of poor form can be turned around quickly. Next up is another Home game at St James Park against Swansea next Saturday 17th November. 3pm kick off. WL
