So thats 3 in and 2 to come right? Sissoko is almost a guarantee. Whether he'll come now or in the summer is anyone's guess.

Plenty of stuff being reported on the rumour mill this morning about The Toon.... Such as Newcastle closing in on another potential signing as they move towards a deal to land Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko. Press Association Sport understands the Mags are hopeful of clinching an agreement for the 23-year-old Frenchman after already signing compatriots Mathieu Debuchy, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and Yoan Gouffran this month. However, it remains to be seen whether Sissoko would arrive on Tyneside before the end of the winter transfer, or sign a pre-contract agreement which would see him join formally during the summer. Some reports claim he could be here before end of month. Meantime more reports coming through mainly from Portugal about Ricky Van Wolfswinkel (better known as 'Rocky and Bullwinkle' to his fans) with Newcastle to Launch a £10m bid for the Dutch International Striker. The striker was a transfer target for the Magpies prior to him joining Sporting Lisbon from Eredivisie side FC Utrecht in a £5million switch last season. Van Wolfswinkel, who can play in an attacking midfielder role as well as in his more favoured striker, has impressed in Portugal with a record of around a goal a game, but Sporting Lisbon’s financial problems could result in him being sold. Sporting Lisbon including the 23-year-old are enduring a wretched season (what worse than ours?) having had four managers and struggling to steer clear of the relegation zone. On that basis alone Van Wolfswinkel may welcome a way out of the club. WL

Almost forgot this one......about N'Dubz Wigan Athletic are reportedly lining up a move to sign Danny Simpson from Newcastle United in a cut price deal. Danny Simpson has been linked with a move away from Newcastle since the arrival of Mathieu Debuchy from Lille. (You just got to love the way some of the media report this stuff! Don't they know his contract is up FFS!) The presence of the French full back means Simpson’s place in the side and squad is in jeopardy and after playing a large part in the team so far this season, he could still go elsewhere before the end of January. There were many clubs linked with him when the window opened including Fulham and West Ham which caused speculation that a bidding war was about to develop. However, that didn’t materialise which means if Wigan make an unchallenged bid for Simpson, according to the Daily Mail, they could sign him for as little as £400,000. It would certainly be an interesting move for Simpson because he would be joining a side with a track record of struggling each Premier League season. However, Roberto Martinez is notorious for developing the technique of players before they move on and Simpson is still at the stage in his career where he can develop and learn. He would have almost a guaranteed place in the side which would also appeal to Simpson and he would be unchallenged in terms of right backs at Wigan. Martinez is also a very good manager when it comes to managing individual players and he has the ability to get the very best out of Simpson which may ultimately lead to a move back to a bigger side. It just boils down to a case of whether Simpson wants to take on a move to a supposed lesser club. It may just be something he has to do if he cares about playing football and developing as a professional. The reason the price would be drastically reduced is because there are no other sides, no bigger sides, that seem to be in the mix, ready to make deals which would push the price up. Firstly, a club has to get another side to agree in terms of a fee before that club can approach a player and start talking through personal terms ahead of a transfer. Football wise, it would be a good move for Simpson but it just comes down to his personality, ego and whether he’s willing to accept reduced terms and move to a smaller Premier League club. Over to you Danny! WL
