Methinks that Fat Mikey is winning the poker game .........I believe from the amount of squealing and indignation coming out of Arsefield that there will be a last day deja vu, and the prodigal son Mr Carroll will return to the Toon. The Scousers can complain as much as they like....they are the ones that allowed themselves to be influenced pricewise by Kenny Dogleash....yet another monumental f... up in his management career(trying to think of any successes). We were for once the innocent party, and its great to be able to take it or leave it...it matters not. As for Dogleash......lock him in a hotel bedroom with Dennis Wise, and in the afterglow they can compare f...ups!

Whilst I agree with Dogleash and Wiseboy, I feel the need to highlight that in this 'poker game' there is only one winner - Ashley...NUFC will never win with the FCB at the helm....So Canny I know we're riding high on the pitch but for one moment if you think Mikey is our saviour then you're badly mistaken.... I want him out. I want Pardew out and I want King Kev back. My mind hasn't changed about Ashley nor will it ever I've said my piece

Where in my post does it say I am an Ashley fan?........we dont need a saviour. When you say we will never win.....win what? I THINK WE ARE ALREADY WINNING. Before Pardew came I wanted KK back, because that was all I knew.....after eating huge lumps of humble pie , I state that Pardew is a good manager even though operating under untenable conditions.(MA), and I wouldnt trade him for anybody. The football we play may not be as exciting as under KK, but it has a quality we have never had under any of our previous post war managers,.........and that is ....consistency, and no embarrassment factor. So lets recap........I dont care who runs the club and I dont like Ashley, but I would like to keep the first consistent meticulous forward thinking manager we have had in 60 years. I find it strange that at 65 I can still admit when I'm wrong and adapt to a new situation, and someone as young as you can find Pardew guilty by association. By the way.....we can all get euphoric over KK , and I love the guy for what he did as a manager and more so as a player, but he has shot his bolt , and had done before he came back.

AP was lucky to be at the right place at the right time. He inherited players like Carroll, Enrique, Colo, Krul, Nolan, Jonas, Arfa, Tiote etc....He had an excellent scout in Carr who made AP sign Cisse and Cabaye. He has an excellent academy that supplies him young players. All he does in return is make our players train defence for 4 days and on his rest day let John Carver take on the offensive coaching! He's plain lucky.... Whatever Canny.... You're missing the point. You being more experienced doesn't make you any more knowledgeable...You've changed a tune from Ashley treating KK badly to KK shooting his bolt! There's admitting your wrong and shifting the goalposts to suit yourself...KK is a hero and always will be....Whatever..... You never said you're an Ashley fan but everything else you state suggests you are....!! I am swimming on by....

Since when did scouts "make" managers sign players? I would suggest that at best the admirable Mr. Carr recommended the said players to Pardew. As Canny points out some of us are prepared to give credit where credit is due. God knows I dislike my boss (as a person)but he does a great job professionally.

Profit is the game, success brings profit, keeping the club in the Premiership, keeping the wages at a repectable level, are all part of Ashleys way. I tend to forget about Ashley, he wants to remain in the background.. so be it, what matters to me is that my club is getting into a strong position both on the pitch and financially part of that is down to Ashley most of it is down to Hughton, Pardew and Carr. I want him out. I want Pardew out and I want King Kev back. Magpie, I want the 1960's back as well, but it ain't going to happen! You have to move on. I think Pardew is doing a good job, and what we need is consistency, which after a long time, we have. Things are rolling along quite nicely at the minute, so long as Ashley keeps his neb out, we are all right. If he starts playing silly buggers, then I'll revise my opinion

Not to defend FCB, but his focus on finances, scouting and running the club as a "business" (which, whether we like it or not, they are) has completely turned this team and the aura that surrounds it around...
...going into the 10-11 season, would you have rather been in Newcastle's shoes or Liverpool's shoes in terms of talent, ownership, and ambition? What about as this season is underway?...no one deserves full credit for anything, but to suggest that FCB shouldn't get some credit for the way the club is owned and operated seems a bit silly...to think that he hasn't had to do some reflection on how he was running things would be naive...he changed the way things here were done...that doesn't make him a savior, but at the moment, I'm willing to at least change my opinion on him slightly and suggest maybe he has some semblance of knowledge and that he's learned from his past mistakes...nobody's perfect; but he's at least better than he was
Until he's not.

However, he HAS got the club back in the black, wether we like it or not!!! I would much rather have an owner ready to back his manager than one who just sez " Aye, we can get him, just hoy it on what we owe aal ready an' hopefully everything will be aalreet!!! (Classic example MO!!!) ' kin mercenary!!!! I've said my piece My view is that Ashley is running the club purely as any business should be run regardless what people think..good or bad. Reading through most comments I can see you'll all think the same, which is part of the problem. So you all are happy as long as Ashley keeps doing what he is and we do well on the pitch? Well... Ashley is not a financial saviour...! He is doing what he can to save money and eek out profit...(I'm not finished)... FOR HIMSELF!! Nothing he is doing for NUFC! Canny, you cannot say KK is your Hero and say you can tolerate Ashley! That's double standards! KK hates the guy...read KK's columns! You can't be on both sides...I'm on KK's... CaptM, your views are well balanced and as usual you hit the nail on the head with minimal fuss, a quality I truly admire. You ae a top poster Keep it up. Supermac, again nicely balanced comments but you threw it all away with that last line. Ann, I realise we can't get the old times back but it seems to me that short term success has made our 'success hungry' fellow toon brothers forget who we are and what we stand for. Our principles and ethos are being lost PS: Just thinking, it's funny I'm the most 'old skool' when I'm the youngest! It should be the other way around on this forum .. food for thought....
