This afternnon has The Toon Army paying a visit to The Pie Eaters of Wigan at the DW.....
4500 of the faithful will be making the trip looking for win number seven and third on the road.
Expectation of another win is high although the home side do have a decent record against us. Not that it will count for much today IMO as this current set of Mags is a different beast altogether from what they have faced previously.
On the stats front......
Newcastle will hope to cement fourth place as they meet Roberto Martinez's relegation-threatened Wigan...
Nine of the 11 Premier League meetings between these two sides have produced a winner, with only two games ending in a draw.
Wigan have won four of their five Premier League home games against Newcastle, but their last home league meeting with the Magpies ended in a 0-1 defeat.
The Latics have won four of their last six Premier League matches.
Only Newcastle United (18) and Manchester United (13) have picked up more points than Wigan (12) in their last six Premier League games.
No side have won fewer home games than Wigan (3) in the Premier League this season.
Papiss Demba Cisse has equalled Mick Quinn's record of most goals in his opening 10 PL appearances (11).
Yohan Cabaye has either scored or assisted six of Newcastle's last seven goals (two goals, four assists).
With six wins in a row, Newcastle are just one short of their Premier League record of seven consecutive victories.
Should Newcastle keep one more clean sheet between now and the end of the season, they'll equal their best tally in a single PL season (15).
Should be a cracker of a game.........
