Capn..............I never underestimate the fatman......he has always been 3 steps in front of us, because he bases his actions and logic on business acumen, not sentimental desire like we all do. I believe that he has already designated the sales that will bring in the most profit.......any 3 or 4 , and has their much cheaper replacements already designated and verbally committed to come in the close season . This is the close season where he starts paying himself back......nobody is safe in the team.......if say 10 million can be made on his investment , then theyre gone. Its short sighted gambling, but he is successful at that, and the scouting of replacement players recently has paid dividends. I am more interested how his cash strategy will affect the team consistency ................kinda getting used to having a good team and being successful. |

Why dismantle a team that is in flying form right now? I don't see a major swap out but certainly if a 50 mill offer comes in and he can pull off another two fer one deal like the AC deal he'd take it. Pardew has stated they are well ahead of the business model they have set up for the club. I think the lure of champions league and the global exposure is a quicker route to $$$$ rather than buy cheaper players and selling them at a profit. I also think taking a club two years from relegation and now standing shoulder to shoulder with the richer BIG clubs would massage his ego as all the southern pundits would have to write what a brilliant job he's done. By the way Capt........nice thread...........might entice Harry Spall to finally start posting. If he's been on here reading some of my silly posts he may think were all a bit daft here. |

Thanks for replying boys its a pity that many may read but few respond if only.... Anyway the cynical view and the shrewd view I know which one I used to hold but its not hard not to go with the one I prefer..     ATB Ahhh thats called "the taming of the shrewd"........ |

APee is rubbish manager, the team don't play attacking football........too defence minded. Bring back Kevin Keegan, Chris Hughton, Pedro, Shearer, Freddy Shepherd, Michael Owen err! and anyone but Ashley to run the whole show............ Oops! got a bit carried away there.......however does he have a point? If I recall correctly Magpie also said he wouldn't go back to St James Park while Mikey was there. If the side keep performing as they are and do manage to get into the Champions league he may have another problem about attending.........not enough tickets available to buy. As for sticking or twisting well as supporters no point in trying to second guess Mikey, however we all face another summer wondering just what our most benevolent owner will come up with....... CWL Oh boy if that guy was still postin he'd be having a HUGE slice of humble pie eh? I think it was after the QPR match, which I recall was a yawner, set him off. Can't argue with APee's tactics over the past 5 matches though. Credit has to go to FCB also for spending $$$$ to get Cisse'. What a difference the defensive minded team is now with a proper strike force. Yesterday they were hitting on all cylinders! Hey, just thought of this. How rich would it be with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and others playing at SJP next season? Think the lemon suckers from that "family club" down the road might just get their bowels in a knot?  |
