I think its really sad he felt he had to take his own life, they think with all the pain in his face from the injuries is something he couldnt live with anymore. His family will be devastated by it. RIP David x

Whilst agreeing with the sentiment expressed for Rathband, let us not forget the members of the Armed Forces. Many of whom have lost there lives in Afghanistan, and many that have horrific physical injuries and livelong mental trauma. All for the sake of political expediency. Both occupations have an element of danger, and sadly it becomes inevitable this danger manifests itself. It is a timely reminder of how dangerous these occupations can be, and how grateful we should be for the people within them.

Its fairly well known that neither the armed forces nor the police are exactly famous for the support offered to those who leave their service-otherwise we wouldnt be needing organisations such as Help for Heroes let alone the guys I spoke to in the Metrocenter a couple of days back trying to raise awareness for homeless ex-servicemen. David Rathband was clearly in a very bad place-having to cope with what had happened let alone the affects of his marraige breakdown and its now maximum support should have been offerred-PTSD can typically take a year to two years to manifest itself-all the early attention would have distracted him somewhat as to what happened-but later when things had settled all the thoughts and feelings would start to show themselves
