Yes Jazz, brilliantly funny, those two are my favourites. My mother and all the women of that generation mouthed they words. It was called Mee-mawing. It originated in the cotton mills because the noise was at such a level they couldn't communicate just be talking or shouting. It then was used for anything embarrassing of risqu'e. People talk with great love for the cotton mills, but only those who didn't work in them. They were hell holes. The noise permanently damaging the ears. and the cotton fluff damaging peoples lungs.

Aye, Milky, we may laugh & reminisce but lots of people lived difficult & hard lives....maybe humour helped a little.
