I seem to remember getting a fair bit for Andy Carroll in January 2011. Seems our feathered friend does get his facts wrong. ;D Fairscup, all who have followed the English league over a period of time know that the January window is only for relegation threatened clubs to panic buy and sell in an effort to stay up. Rarely do you see the big clubs go in (take this window for example). Last window when Carroll went to Liverpool was an exception. It was triggered by Chelsea buying Torres and the greed of Ashely and the betrayal of the traitor Carroll that gave us a window which would only be seen once in a blue moon with a British record transfer. So your argument in response not only fails to counter mine but also shows your lack of depth in knowledge regarding the transfer window. If you saw the Manu - Stoke game yesterday the commentators were saying what a waste of time the Jan window was! |

CWL CWL, you are putting words in my mouth. I didn't say that. I said a top 6 finish would guarantee that our players fetch big money in the summer. Do I think we will finish 6th? Possibly but not probably. And if we do then it will be down the the players and not our manager. I would like to see Jonas shipped out in the summer and if BA fetches us money I say we ought to consider selling him (his knee can go any time!). |

So in other words there were at least two large transfers in jan 2011. Oh dear that hole is getting bigger by the minute. Oh and Surarez (spelling) in to Liverpool - Another £23 mil if I remember correctly. That's 3 and counting. (or was it countering?) At the time neither Chelsea, Liverpool, nor Newcastle were threatened by relegation. Sorry, watched the game on a Norwegian Sports channel - they simply informed of ongoing transfers. |
