Nah, the wording was if it isn't "declared off the road", so either SORN or a replacement for SORN would need to be in place. I'd like to see them try to get hold of people's prized classics that are off the road for restoration like one of my Porsches currently is, I'd kill them before they touched that car! End of the day, they'd be trying to justify property theft, which could open the flood gates for them to take anything they see fit, even buildings and that'll never happen - what they will do is make it a right chore if you have got a car off the road for any reason.

And thats another thing isnt it?
Restoration projects I mean.
Can you imagine some-one lovingly restoring their motor then the bloody truck pulls up and off it goes to the scrapyard!!!!

Welcome aboard WileE What model Porsche are you restoring

Hey mate, got 2 of them - a 1978 early model 924, which I'm restoring now but had the car since 2001 and it's been great fun but age was catching up finally. Also got a 1985 944 late model which has a niggling electrical problem, I'm not driving at the moment (medical issue) so both are tucked away for me to tinker at my leisure. My 924 is featured in a book that was published a couple of years ago by a guy called Marc Cranswick, which looked at all the water cooled/front engined models and the history behind them, so she's got her little moment of fame going on! It's mostly cosmetic bodywork that needs tidying up, plus a couple of sheared off bolts on an engine mount after a bit of hard driving one day My 924, think we'd parked up at Druridge Bay country park on the way home from a blast up the coastal route and into the borders that day: This is the 944 (and the back of Mrs Wile_E lol):

Very nice...Personally Im not a lover of the 924 just doesn't look like a true Porsche. I like a lot of folk prefer the 911 a car no one seems to have copied represents everything that Porsche stands for (in my oppinion) Love to own one ..911 turbo DrooooooooL

lol, the 928, which the 924 design was derived from was supposed to replace the 911 varients but too many die-hards objected, even though the 928 was a superior car at the time. I like the water pumpers mainly because they don't have the 911 shape so are a bit more unusual - plus the parts are dirt cheap being mostly VW/Audi generics (924 was originally contracted for Porsche to design by Audi, but they backed out so Porsche bought the designs back), they're a brilliant drivers car, 50/50 weight balance so you can really throw them around the corners, not much keeps up on a winding country road. I could ramble on about the 924 for hours!
My goal is to have owned a 928 next and then a 968 after that to complete the line-up of all 4 water cooleds (might start looking for the turbo models of each if I win the lottery!).
Ohh and an HSR Chevette would be a bonus, but they're near impossible to find now with only 400 built!

I remember watching Mike Brewer and Edd China restoring one on Wheeler Dealers they raved about it and remember them saying the parts were readily available With me it purely down to the aesthetics of the car just not my cup of tea So what do you use for your everyday run around

Yeah, you can get most parts from the likes of Eurocarparts, it's also a fairly easy car to work on for the most part. I've watched that Wheeler Dealers a few times, Mike was right about one thing - the grin factor when you drive them.
Used to drive a lightly modified Vauxhall Zafira, just some basic tweaks under the bonnet and exhaust. It was getting a bit unreliable too often so we opted for a cheap and cheerfull Chevrolet estate for the family run-around (got 2 dogs so need the room in the back). Nothing to rave about, just a "does the job" car, our family cars tend to get run into the ground so I'd never bother with anything other than something run of the mill.

I like the grey one It reminds me of the Jensen an old ex of my daughter's had. Lovely car, fibreglass body, it went up in flames when he was doing some work on it!!!!

it's just the same as if you dont tax your car you sign a SORN to say you wont be using it on the road.
