MilkH..................have you not seen the film from which this is part of the score?
The Mission is IMO a wonderful visual experience set against the Brazilian jungle and the soundtrack compliments it brilliantly. However unfortunately Roland Joffé the Director didn't make the most of it with the actors he had in the starring roles. So instead of being a cinematic masterpiece it falls short.

I agree it could have been better, especially with the cast it had. Still a great film, and the role of the church and the army was fascinating.
The music was a wonderful enhancement to the film, and superb in it's own right.

Cat lovers might like this, but I happen to think it one of the worst pieces of classical music there is. Very clever bit of synchronizing the cat's voices + film trickery.....our 2 cats have distinct "voices" and I read somewhere that cats actually have an amazing number of vocal sounds...not just purring and miaowing!  |
