All in all a good transfer window....We have enough strikers for now with the addition of Ba, signed a quality full back and a few good french midfielders. Negatives were the departues of Nolan, Enrique and Barton but with a positive start to the season and these few good signings I am sure we will not fight relegation this season.
The board and Pardew did make good efforts and didn't bow to excessive wage demands of Ruiz. I think that's a good sign. We will not be taken for mugs in the transfer window and pay more than what we should. We need to work on the fitness of our players and get Benny Arfa fit and then we will be able to make the charge for Europe.
I look forward to the QPR game.

I must admit that, idiot as I am, I had a glimmer of hope on that Ruiz thing but when you read that we have a bid accepted and that we offer higher wages than Fulham and yet the deal breaks down anyway, you have to wonder where it went wrong. Ruiz didn't turn up the meeting point? - He must have had his reasons, if indeed the deal was on at all. Even I feel a bit sorry for Pardupe today - but he knew his remit when he accepted the job.

Pardew must love playing the fool though. "We're going to get a new striker in 100%."

Barring the none arrival of a quality goal scorer I believe the window just about matched my expectations under The Fat Controller and his chums................. It was never going to add up to much. Had Cisse arrived I would have been very satisfied. Mind you I never believed we had made a worthwhile effort to go and get the lad just like so many others we were linked with. The Bryan Ruiz deal was another last minute smoke and mirrors job.............. Did Lambsarse find out at the weekend Fulaham were interested and so decided to head off to the smoke and gatecrash their deal! Sounds like the kind of hairbrained scheme he would try and pull! So we are left with what we have...................... Hell of a lot resting on a forward line not exactly top drawer in terms of quality, including a few of them with serious injury and fitness doubts. Ladies and Gentlemen fasten your seatbelts the roller coaster ride is about to start again with no getting off until January. Oh! one other point............... any idea if we can still bring someone in on loan during September? Sturridge perhaps? CWL
