CWL good writeup. Well deserved point and the formation was as I expected Pardew would play. With Erik Pieters due to come in soon and a possible 'loot' on London we could have a striker soon HTL

After looking into the incidents in Saturdays game the FA have taken the following course of action................. Newcastle and Arsenal have been charged with failing to control their players. Arsenal's Alex Song has been charged separately with violent conduct in relation to an earlier incident involving Joey Barton. Probably more to follow regarding actual punishments once any appeals etc. have been submitted. CWL

Newcastle and Arsenal have both been found guilty by the Football Association of failing to control their players and each fined £30,000. Players from both sides became involved in a mass brawl during their opening day 0-0 draw at St James' Park. It was sparked by Gervinho and Joey Barton after the Newcastle man took issue with what he felt was an apparent dive by the Ivory Coast striker in the box. Referee Peter Walton sent off Gervinho for his part in the incident after appearing to slap the Toon midfielder in the face, Barton meanwhile escaped with a yellow card. However, the number of players involved in the incident prompted the FA to investigate further and subsequently charged both sides last week. Both clubs denied the charge and requested a non-personal hearing but their appeals were rejected and the fines upheld. "An Independent Regulatory Commission today (Tuesday 23rd) found both Newcastle United and Arsenal guilty of failing to control their players," an FA statement read. "Both clubs denied the charge and requested a non-personal hearing. In each case, the charge was proven by the Regulatory Commission and both clubs have been fined £30,000." The Magpies responded with a statement of their own, which read: "Newcastle United has requested written reasons for the decision from the chairman of the regulatory commission and will consider its position once these have been received."
