This little chap has made his home (we think) in our Russian Vine!! Last year some blackbirds built a nest and had chicks in the Vine, and a flaming magpie had all the chicks

Out on my usual walk today....spotted a Wren in someone's garden...the usual type of thing with Wrens....a small brown darting thing which you see out of the corner of your eye moving into bushes. Also 6 or 7 Dunlin (Waders) near water's edge on Whitley Bay beach. Loads of seaweed washed up in great piles.

Re shadow & goldfish.....excellent work...perseverance pays off......I know my mother (me Mam!) always used to put a pinch of salt in our goldfish bowl when our long lived comet tailed goldfish was poorly!

It's funny that, as Munchkin is prone to getting a sore ear. It goes red and it must itch as he scratches it and shakes his head. When this happens I dilute salt in warm water, get a cotton wool pad and put it on his ear. It seems to do the trick.
Years ago, when we had a dog, she had a sore paw and I couldn't see anything there, so I took her to the vet. He had a look, got a tweezers, and got a grass seed underneath on of the pads of her foot. He said that sometimes happens when they go through grass. He recommended me to soak her paw in salt water, it healed up in no time!!!!
I know when I used to go swimming, we used to cut our feet on the barnacles on the rocks, but by the time we came out of the water it was OK!!!! Maybe we should have a section on old fashioned remedies lol ;D

Jazz.......todays walk.......in Rising Sun Country Park....a flock of about 20 or so greenfinch feeding on seeds/cones in a tree, too far off to see what the tree was (not very good on trees!). Five Mute Swans and six or Seven Moorhens on unfrozen part of lake searching for food. Seems to be a lot of robins about....they're all over the place......good!

Holywell Dene Walk. Lovely sparkly sort of day, clear bright sky, cold with frost forming on ground....nothing unusual seen. Saw two other bods out walking, one of whom pointed to the distant southern sky where he had identified a large flock of geese which to me just looked like a small grey wispy cloud. "You must have good eyes" I said. "Aye I've just had a cataract operation, having the other one done soon" he replied. Sure enough, they were geese, constantly changing direction & height. The only other thing of note were quite a number of Long Tailed Tits (no comment from Kitt please...ha, ha, ha!) feeding on nuts/seeds that someone had hung from a tree.
