Thought I'd pop this on as a place for ideas on how to continue the hunt for old members as well as attract new ones. Weve now been going for four months and whilst we have a relatively respectable number of members for such a new forum it would be good to start increasing the membership now. Ive continued to monitor the Chron for old members but unfortunately few are commenting on there-at least in the general section-and Ive popped in now and again on both sections and put a mention of here on there. But how do we continue to attract new members??? I'm wondering if the members on here can come up with some ideas as well as suggestions on how the forum itself could be improved in order to appeal to people I know we have a category for members suggestions but this is quite specific to encouraging people to join

I have been trying from the moment the old crony shutdown. I only know the footy section. Have only found 4 as they were the only ones posting on there, and they are now on here. Will keep trying shadow.

Thanks Polly Ive found a couple who arent currently members on here but at least one has expressed interest when things are calmer his end but they are from HYS. Ive also been trawling through other forums-Northern Echo,Evening gazette to name two hoping to see some but as yet no luck.

I imagine more people use the words Geordie or Newcastle when browsing (Google) than chronicle or renegade. Not saying we should change the name but maybe a subtitle or something? IYKWIM

I think one of the reasons this board does not attract new users is it simply is not topical enough and certainly is not controversial. The Old Pals Act where everyone agrees with each other is enough to put anyone off and having one poster poting the majority of threads is another. There appears to be plenty of people viewing, so why are they not joining?

There are some topical questions on here, and it's a shame that more do not post. However I really don't think it has anything to do with a so called Old Pals Act. Is that a new name for the so called Get Along Gang? I can assure you, that when there is a subject upon which I disagree with anyone, I will say so!! I am sure we are all mature enough to have a reasonable discussion, without resorting to personal attacks and sideswipes!!

And equally any member can start a thread if they want to discuss a topic.Even a controversial one

Have to agree with supergob, you must have controversy to liven things up.!
Also we require more variety from new members, nothing wrong with WUM's to keep it going.

No probs Patsie In all honesty wind up merchants dont bother me too much. However that is entirely different to trolling and targeting specific posters
