Yes, thanks for everyone's suggestions, especially CWL.......we are going to check round the back of the desktop....see if there are any loose connections before calling someone out. We are also thinking it might be dust etc.....it might need a blowout which this "call out fella" could do. In the last hour it has improved a bit but still not good enough to play videos without stopping & starting.

The latest on our PC's slowness:- Poked around the back of the desktop making sure everything was tightly fixed...also cleaned away some dust that had accumulated. Then rang the "repair man" who advised us to ring our ISP....went through a series of online procedures as per her instructions. Outcome of all this is that we are being sent new "filters" to renew on our telephone line. Prior to all this I'd checked the speed of our broadband with an online tester......download speed 648 kbps and 664 kbps upload speed so you can see how we can't "do" video!!  |

So your PC and laptop are running as as they always have it's the network side which is rubbish................... Such is human nature it explains why no one ever tells a technician my computer is running fast....................do you think there's a problem? CWL |

And of the filters don't work, they'll check the line, and if it's not that, they'll check the router!!  I knew it was something to do with connection, and if that first person I phoned had listened to what I said, this might have been sorted out days ago!!!

 Aye that sounds about right!!! Well, we got our new filter this morning, fitted it on and voila!!!!!! Sorted !!!!  Well, so far so good anyway
