Is that the curse that kicked in in the late sixties? I don't know. I'm too young obviously. So I wanted to ask you guys. I heard this legend a long time back. Just wanted to know if there's any truth in it. Yeah the executions might have happened before the 60s....world war time I'm guessing...Maybe before...My history is bad...

The last hanging at Gallowgate was in 1844 - We've won several cups since then. There is no curse.

Oh disappointing I kinda liked the story Oh wait maybe the dead souls weren't that pissed with us then...Maybe by the 60s they thought okay "you're winning enough trophies. No more trophies for like the next 100 years..."....Maybe we'll win the next one in 2044...Ooohh that makes an inteesting date dont it But I fully believe there's a curse on us...The poisoned chalice and all

It's at times like this we need Observer to supply all the relevant details............................mind you it would probably just kick off a whole load of historical argument. If having a boat load of useless Chairman and Directors running the Club can be called a curse then it's true. Don't believe those who were convicted and ended their days on the Gallows could do any worse than some of the people we have had in charge of things. Then again given half a chance some supporters would gladly string up the current crop and in particular our most benevolent owner. CWL

Plenty of rope on the Tyne which would fit and the drop from Level 7 at SJP should be high enough! CWL

Your probably right Leazes........................didn't want to give Magpie the impression the Club's supporters are all a load of nutters. Too late now mind he's already declared himself as a paid up member of the mad brigade................. What's that bit in The Eagles Hotel California.....................You can always checkout, but you can never leave! Welcome to the Hotel Gallowgate! CWL True true....We are all just prisoners here...of our own device.... CWL why the name Gallowgate? I heard they used to execute prisoners there. Hang them to their death and some say that the souls of those prisoners still linger around. Hence the curse and jinx on us not winning any trophies. They are taking their revenge on us. Is there any truth in it? Any tales your dad / grandad might have told you .... I'ts great great Grandfathers you mean,as history has it ,Gallowgate hill was last used mid 19th century for public hangings,as for trophys, 3 FA CUPS AND THE FAIRS CUP IN MY LIFE TIME,so the hangings were long past,so I don't believe in this mumbo jumbo curses.sorry about the caps, oops.
