A well battled for point yesterday, we put up a very good first half giving Manure a lot of trouble but without creating any real threats.
Closest to score was Løvenkrands but he failed to put his header on goal. Giggs and Hernandez both had sitters that they failed to score, Giggs putting the ball just inches wide in the second half while Krul made a great save against Hernandez who only needed to tap it in at the start of the first.
Løvenkrands, Rooney and Hernandez all had shouts for penalties where the Mexican got booked for diving. Referee Probert for some reason decided not to book Nani for his dive in the penalty area in the first half though.
All in all a little bit lucky but yet a deserved point for our team.
Everyone did a good job today but the players who did stand out the most for me was Jonás, Coloccini, Tioté and Barton.
Owen was back at SJP, greeted by a wall of boos when he came on..

I have been to games where ex Mackems have received better receptions than what Owen got last night. It was almost as if Fergie wanted to see what would happen just for the hell of it if he introduced Owen into the game. In some ways it completely backfired as the home crowd became even more involved and screamed their support for the Lads. Certainly a well earned point and at least our side turned up which on so many other occasions against Manure has been seriously in doubt. I can only think Nani has been watch Ashley Young from the Villa or he possibly has the same coaching DVD. May as well make the game a none contact sport following the antics of those two. Must be terrible for them that they can never go out on a windy day for fear of being blown away! You would certainly not be wrong for thinking that way as they both fall over following minimal contact or in most cases none at all other than a passing breeze. Despite only taking a point from this game I still think Manure will take the title simply because the Gooners lack the ability to kill games. Should be interesting to watch tonights North London derby with that in mind.................. CWL

I thought the ref was good Normally refs seem to be sh*t scared of Man U, and give them everything, but this one was taking no notice of the shenanigans. I thought we played well, and we had an excellent link on the computer too

Ann for such a big game the ref handled it very well and certainly better than many may have expected. Even the two penalty decisions were dealt with in a firm way, although both sides could argue afterwards he got them wrong for different reasons. Personally I thought it was one of the best refereeing displays I have seen for quite a while................. and much to my own amazement regarding all of last nights officials both of his assistants didn't get much wrong either. The sad thing is that is all too often not the case................. CWL

Natt PL refs may know the laws better, but some of the application or interpretation is far from the best IMO. Some also appear to have had a complete common sense bypass. That said I do concede it is a tough role and probably one where no matter what they do someone will find fault with it..................before they look for the good. I just thought for once the ref last night Lee Probert should get some praise as he deserved it. CWL

What Probert saw or didn't see, only he himself knows. One thing is certain, he was perfectly positioned for all three penalty calls. All in all an entertaining game and certainly not the backlash or walkover I was expecting. PMSL at purplenose who was so certain regarding Hernandez trip but didn't see Løvenkrands incident. What a poor poor sportsman he is.

Fairsy I was intrigued by your post on the team selected to play last night..................... With Taylor in for Guthrie and no mention of Ireland. Obviously I was at the game so only read it this morning. Was that just a possible team put together by someone? CWL

I believed it to be the actual starting eleven but now see the error of my ways and apologize profusely.

Fairsy you can probably like me remember the days where you knew who was going to be playing a week before a game..................... Now I'm not entirely sure until some of the buggers run on to the pitch. CWL
