Had my state Pension come for next aprill, reading it it has a line in there that says when you are 80 years old. Now listen to this you may be able to get 25pence a week age addition. do you think the banks that get 6.5 million bonus's will claim it. So much for working for 50 years. with out claiming one pence off the state.

Can I have a Just as well?? The whole benefit system is to hell, they need to scrap the whole lot and start from scratch!!! All they are doing at the min is tinkering about, I cannot remember the figures now, but all these people who winge about benefit fraud, should kop a look at how much errors on the part of the DWP cost!!!! It's about 3 times the fraud figure!!!!! They kinda skirt over that though!!!

How ridiculous, Polly....I'm the same as you, worked since 1960 to 2010 but lucky that I have a works pension. I feel sorry for future and present generations who are going to have a difficult time as regards pensions etc.

I feel sorry for future and present generations who are going to have a difficult time as regards pensions etc. Yeah we all know who is responsible for the state of our pensions Yep shreck himself Gordon b loody Brown. The one thing that every government has in common with each other is their ..Im all right jack attitude . They bu gger up everything they touch and its the people who suffer for their incompetence. Let me ask this are the people who ruined our pension going to have their pensions reduced by the same amount. I dont think so. They are nowt but blatant hypocrites ....They kicked up such a stink about the bankers who all but sunk this country yet they still allowed them to shower themselves in lavish bonuses. And they have the nerve to tell us we are all in this together

Aye, put me down Nick I see all hell is breaking loose about public sector pensions!! There is no doubt something has to be done, as I don't think the taxpayer should be asked to make up the shortfall! Yes, we could argue about the reason for the shortfall all day long, but no government, of any persuasion, have grasped the nettle!! And the first to go should be the gold plated MP's pensions!!!

I really can't understand why the public sector think that they are a special case...."serving the public etc etc". Because of this they expect better conditions with their pensions, retiring earlier despite them often having reasonably good wages. To my mind most workers are essential and contribute to society. I mostly feel sorry for poorly paid people who don't get a "works" pension and couldn't afford to pay for a private one. I speak as one who has a "works" pension as well as the state pension and know that I'm fortunate to have that despite, obviously, paying for it over the years. Police, Fire, Armed Services, I believe, can retire as early as about 50 with a decent pension and go on to another job with the possibility of a pension with that one as well! Lets have a fairer society for ALL!

They are not getting them for nothing they pay at least 8% of their wages into the pension pot its alright pointing the finger at the public sector but if its wrong now it was wrong when these pensions were negotiated. Personally i think all this public sector bashing has took everyone's eye off the ball ...The real culprits are New labour . Before their raid on the pensions there was no black holes and shortfalls.Tthe pensions right across the board private and public were performing above and beyond expectations. All that said your right there has to be a pension revue and instead of any changes affecting the working classes first i think its time for our leaders lead by example and start with cutting their own pensions first.

It just seems to me, to be so unfair that public service workers have the "edge" over other workers. I don't really know the full story but I think it can create a divisive society....the old "haves" and "have nots"! Also, I seem to remember some pension schemes collapsing several years ago....the steel workers in South Wales spring to mind....paid in over a lot of years and got nothing at the end of it. I certainly agree with you that these huge pension/bonus payments to those at the top should cease....to me it just seems to be greed. How much money do these people want......but, of course money means power! Most people just want to live and pay their bills, just get by in life but its becoming increasingly difficult for them to manage. My pension is a public service one and I can understand workers trying to protect their interests...its only human nature....however I would willingly forgo some benefits....like the winter fuel payment/free bus pass etc if I knew the money saved was going to the "people who needed it". The "people who needed it" of course, is another kettle of fish and is, perhaps worthy of another thread on here!

In the last two weeks I've received two tax forms one for June's interest on her account one for me because I'm getting June's pension and one from the DWP telling me they've overpaid June's state pension.
June will live in my heart forever, and won't be forgotten in many government departments for a long time either.
It's very upsetting and sickening.
