It would be nice if somebody could take some photo's of the forum meet's and put them up. The point of the forum is that we are anonymous. Anyone wanting to see us can just come along, cant they? No need for photos. Isn't this surely a contradiction in terms? Anonymous but you have meets? Do you all wear masks or something?. And no we who live abroad can't just come along  |

And no we who live abroad can't just come along Choice of words really....................and Fairsy most of us do realise those who are living abroad or in other parts of the country cannot just turn up on a whim. For me it's not about hiding behind a keyboard or remaining anonymous to other forum members. More a case of being totally practical in protecting my own identity and those of other members. It's the reason for the security precautions we take as management of the forum. This is after all cyber world as you have pointed out on other occasions. It is dangerous to assume everything is as it perhaps appears to be. Okay that may be my own paranoia coming into play, but I would prefer to be careful rather than take the risk myself or someone else who is particularly vulnerable became a victim of either identity theft or something a lot worse. Even if a member did upload pictures of themselves (oh! boy what have I just said!) there's absolutely no way of determining whether they are for real. The meets from what I can gather are always held in a public place after that it's down to choice whether people attend or actually make themselves known. CWL  |

Hmm. One doesn't need a photograph to steal someone's identity. I wouldn't post pics of myself on the internet anyway. I'm just too good looking |

Regret if my post implied a photograph was needed for ID theft I'm fully aware that is not the case.................I was referring to the need for security measures to prevent members details from being openly available for actual or potential misuse. I now have this impression of you as this 6ft 5 inch tall blonde viking rather than a 5ft 3 inch short Geordie. Perhaps it's your wife I'm dreaming of?  CWL  |
